Transfer Flow 58 gallon replacement tanks are finally being sold and installed!!!!

What did they charge for the install, how long did it take, and did they dispose of the old
They disposed of the old tank. I dropped it off on a Friday morning, then picked it up after work the same day. I do not remember the cost.

Mine was installed last week. Looking forward to the next big travel trailer trip .... soon

Trying to see if anyone has a ball park on the gauge co ordinating with number of gallons. In other words does the gauge show a full 58 when topped off or is it a tech number from the truck brain box?

The gas gauge is accurate right away. It's a mechanical float so doesn't need a computer or calibration.

The forscan changes only affects the Distance To Empty calculation shown on the dash. Even if you never change the forscan settings your gauge will still be accurate, but the milage estimate will not be.

Just had mine installed. Changed gallons to 58, empty to 4, and read from IPC and everything is working great.

Single best upgrade to the truck I will make. Love the range now, especially towing the trailer.

How do you change the gallons to empty?

Hello, I’m going to be getting this larger tank in May due to reading this thread! My question is does anyone have forscan in central Oregon since the dealer is approx $190 to change the DTE and a Mobil programmer is only a little less. I know it’s a long shot but I don’t know anyone that does it and the installer of the tank doesn’t do it either.

Sort of. The gas almost empty warnings appear when there is lots of gas remaining. It shows pretty much empty on the gauge when there is maybe 10 gallons of gas left.

An OBD adapter will cost about $60, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B081VQVD3F and the FORScan trial is free as far as I can remember.

Does the tank hang lower than factory? If so, does anyone know how much?

@OffRoadRN did a great write-up around pages 19-20 of the thread... looks like about 1" lower than stock

I think I heard the same number somewhere else as well. That is the main reason for me not to get it. I want all the ground clearance possible. I know that it only affects a small number of situations, but my goal is to be offroad as much as possible when my camper finally arrives and go places.

I would say there will be far more in places you can go with "more" fuel, than you will miss with 1" less ground clearance! Best mod I made to my truck was the larger tank.

I'm planning on this being very high on the list for my 23 when they do the updates to the tank to fit my truck.

As HTremor said, the DTE setting determines the number of gallons remaining AFTER the DTE reaches 0 (zero). The default is 6. I'm in the process of verifying that right now. My truck right now has shown 30 Miles to Empty on the instrument gauge. I've got a 5 gallon can in the truck for emergency and I'm going to use the truck for another 50 miles or so (I'm getting about 14 mpg so about 3.5 gallons) and then fill the tank to see how many gallons it takes. Now I'm at 660 miles on this fill up. I'd like to get a good estimate of exactly what the limits are. There are pictures/discussions earlier in this thread regarding the height of the tank. Cheers

It's not an issue...the tank is built waay better than the factory pot metal skid plate...I think the transmission heat sheilds are thicker than that skid plate. You spend 2 hours out of your day going back to town get gas a few times you will come around.

Hey all, I just wanted to point out that transfer flow now has an installation video on their website (that they filmed on my truck!) in case anyone wants to tackle the install themselves to save a few bucks. Overall, it looks fairly simple. I hope everyone is enjoying their new take, I know I sure am!
