Transfer Flow 58 gallon replacement tanks are finally being sold and installed!!!!

My readings seem accurate based on larger size after I changed to DTE source from PCM to IPC. I'm guessing that PCM learns, while IPC uses the configured number of gallons + gauge reading.

I did get a paper from TF that told me exactly the numbers at Empty,1/4,1/2,3/4,Full - it's somewhere at home.
Yeah, when I entered the gallons as 58 in forscan and cycled the ignition, the DTE didn't change, but after i changed it to IPC and cycled the ignition it immediately updated the DTE to what seems pretty accurate.

Mines seems fairly accurate...I just got back from a couple hour trip averaged 15.2 for the trip..just filled up.

This is what I got after the install:

Full: 58g
3/4: 40g
1/2: 29g
1/4: 19g
Empty: 1.5g
MIne seems to be the opposite. I topped off yesterday and had used about 1/3 of a tank and I completely topped off with just under 17 gallons. Once I'm at 3/4 with this tank I'm going to fill up and see how many gallons. Then to 1/2 tank and 1/4 tank to see how it measures. I have a feeling the bottom end of the gauge is going to read with more gallons between hashmarks.

Any inside info yet on if the tank will work for 2023 trucks yet? Transfer flow told me a month ago they don’t know and need get their hands on a 2023 first, obviously to see if everything is exactly the same. Thought maybe someone here maybe has been to one of the shows or introduction events and taken a peak to the underside :)

A peak to the underside won't be nearly enough to verify fitment. Would need to take specific measurements, possibly requiring dropping the factory tank (might, might, be able to avoid dropping the factory tank if it's confirmed to be the same part number as previous years).

And of course Transfer Flow would be the ones who know what measurements to take and what the values need to be. So even if someone unaffiliated with Transfer Flow had the opportunity to take measurements, they still couldn't verify fitment unless they communicated pretty extensively with Transfer Flow in advance.

And, even if the 23 has the same part number for the tank, the space around the tank may be used differently. It's a roll of the dice at this point so not worth worry about for the time. I'm sure as fast as Transferflow jumped on the design process for the current tank, they will expedite the process as soon as a 23 truck is available.

Yes, good clarification. I tried to say that but realize now my wording wasn't terribly clear in that regard. :)

Happy to report that after a couple fill-ups the Forscan adjustment to the larger tank size looks good. Still no idea why the numbers were not jiving immediately after install/Forscan adjustments, but nevertheless all looks good now. I did adjust the "reserve" amount in Forscan as well, changed it from 6 gallons to 4.

607 miles / 11.0 mpg = 55.2 gallons with ~ 2.8 reserve (or less as I didn't fully top off I quit when the pump auto shut off).

Very happy with it all and all.
After several fill ups mine will not reset to the transfer flow capacity. My 7.3 will get 15 on the highway at about 65 mph.

Was your trip mileage reset in between fill ups? That calculates to 14.8 gallons @ half a tank which is less than stock capacity. Make sure you reset your trip mileage at fill up and then take a picture of gauge after your fill up after that. Should give you a better estimate.

Installation prices- what has everyone paid?

$350 at AutoXtras in San Antonio, TX. Disposed of tank no cost.

Anyone actually weighed the factory tank or scaled their truck before and after?

Trying to figure out how much more the TF tank weighs over stock (not including the extra fuel, of course).

I'd guess it was in the vicinity of 100-120lbs more, empty to empty.

I believe mine came with a replacement payload sticker (to fill out) and a chart of all of their tanks and how much to subtract from your current payload. I’ll try to find my paper sometime over the weekend if someone else doesn’t post it first, but if I’m remembering correctly, it was somewhere in the neighborhood of 350lbs. I believe that includes the weight of the extra gas as well (which is roughly 150lbs). So the tank should weigh around 200lbs more than stock.

Edit: added the documents. Unless I’m not reading it correctly, it should lower payload by 362lbs (which includes the fuel) - meaning the tank weighs around 200 more than the stock.

You are in the ballpark. The shipment manifest was ~225lbs (and it was HEAVY). It had 15 - 20lbs of box/pallet, so approx ~205lbs for tank and hardware. I saved my stock tank, and with the skid plate and tank, it weighed around ~80 - 90lbs when I unloaded it into my storage unit. So the increase is somewhere in the 110 - 120lb range....empty to empty.

I must've gotten a faulty tank from Transferflow! I replaced my tank, did the forscan changes, filled her up and my DTE is only 609! Nothing even close to the 780+ others are showing! ;)
