The DIY at your own risk guide to adding Multi Contour Seats (MCS) to your Truck

Im late to the party! My 23 KR Tremor MCS was deleted from ford. Im looking to add this back on as well. I see the part numbers are for 2021ish year parts. Any difference for the 2023s?
My dealer didnt re click the PRB as well and I wanted the power running board. I have all the parts and wires for that. Been putting it off the about 6 months since it has been hot here in vegas. temps are cooling so I want to get into it.
My seat harness is nearly fully loaded I only need to add two connectors per clip that run to the PRBs Since it is nearly fully load you think I still need to replace the harness for the MCS?
Can one side be done and the other another time?
Does the MCS need a DSM upgrade?

I am upgrading The DSM anyone have tips on coping this on forscan and then replacing it on the new DSM?

thank you for this guide. im using it for a bit of a different issue. My drivers side lumbar seems to have a mind of its own. the 3 lumbar settings will jump all over when increasing or decreasing. The lumbar is also very inconsistent when used with the memory settings. If i leave everything down to the lowest setting and save it everything is fine, but if i save it with say setting 2, it will sometimes jump to setting 4 or back to setting 1 when it feels like it. I updated all of the modules with FDRS and am now leaning towards the driver side multi contour module being the issue. No dtcs and it passes the self test. massage function works as it should. Any thoughts? I don't think its the DSM module.

This multipart thread is to be the somewhat definitive guide to adding the MCS seats into your truck. So if you are one of the unlucky folks who got hosed by Ford and your MCS seats were deleted in a King Ranch, Platinum, or Limited and got the $300 credit then this thread is for you. If you want to try and add MCS seats to your truck then you can follow along as well as we know that it can be done at least in a Ford Lariat Ultimate. I am posting the full PDF write up here, but will also do this in the thread so you can have full size pictures and videos.

This information and guide comes from 3 of us that dove in and figured it out. First credit needs to go to @ZooDad from the FTE forums, and Svenster for taking the first steps and diving in first and showing me the way. Together the 3 of us figured out quite a bit. Feel free to contact us for assistance.

Note* This is a DIY project and we cannot be held responsible if you bork something. We will try to help in any way we can. Also we have no idea how this may effect your warranty with FORD so caveat emptor.

First lets answer some questions:

1. Can this be done DIY?
- Absolutely despite Ford saying otherwise.

2. What parts do I need?
- This can be dependent upon which vehicle you have. However, the base components are the same:

3. Where do I get the parts?
- Well there are lots of choices online and the costs will range anywhere from $1100 per seat up to $1600 per seat for new parts. However the best and most economical way to do this is find someone who buys wrecked trucks and salvages the working parts. One such awesome resource is Richard at: RBJ Auto Parts. You can get both seats for ~$650.

4. How long did it take?
- A lot longer since we stopped and took pictures and videos ;). But all in I did both my seats in about 10 hours.

5. Do I need to use Forscan?
- Yes you will have to program your APIM and possibly update some modules depending on which ones you get.

6. Do I really have to replace my wiring harnesses?
- Yes, while they look the same some of the pinouts are different and you will need the wiring for the 2 new seat modules
I just replaced my drivers side control module and I’m getting a non communication with module dtc. Sounds like I need to program new module. Can you help me please? Thank you either way for all the info

try disconnecting it and reseating the connection.

Part 5: Programming and Testing

  1. In order to test, reconnect the seats to the wiring harness from the truck; put the fuses back in and hook up the neg battery cables. See FORScan below.
  2. You can do a hybrid approach and button up the seat bottom
    1. Make sure you pull the seat through the back and over the large metal bar
    2. Reconnect the j clips
    3. Reinstall the side panel with the seat controllers
    4. Leave the back open and install back in the truck.
      1. If everything checks out you can button up the back seat.
  3. Repower the SRS

FORScan: The new modules are:
  1. SCMG Drivers side (712)
  2. SCMH Passenger side (713)

When you hook up FORScan, the SCMH and SCMG modules should be listed. If one or both are not then disconnect ForScan and TRY re-seating the seat connectors. You will need to confirm your AsBuilt files are correct for your vehicle. Reach out to a ForScan subject matter expert to assist you.

If your wiring kit came from an older model F250 (2020, 2021) you may need to update your SCMG or SCMH modules. You will need to make a change to the APIM module, APIM module ASBuilt on line item 7D0-01-03. Change the first value to a 2. Reboot the APIM (Press and hold radio power and seek forward until screen goes black)

Depending on your truck and when it was built there could be other FORScan changes necessary.

NOTE* When using FORScan DO NOT use a profile scan new each and every time.

When you are done you can enjoy what Ford took from you

If for some reason when you get done and the different functions in the screenshot above are not selectable it means you might need to update your modules and or change another setting in the modules. Either way we can assist.

Does anyone know if any of the part numbers changed for 23-25 my? I have been trying to get all the parts together and some places don’t list 23-25 for some of the part numbers.

Hello anyone knows if I can Use this module for driver seat Fu5t-14f548-be ? Im having hard time finding module listed in first post and just wondering if it’s interchangeable

I just scored a complete driver and passenger kit for my 2023 on eBay for $850….there is one left!

I got the other one. It will be interesting to see what tariff we will have to pay at time of delivery as is now listed on Ebay.

Aren't those 20-22 kits? Or did they actually list a 23+ setup. Been watching for quite awhile myself trying to nail down all the parts

What parts did they change from 22 to 23?
From all the information I have been able to gather, everything is different, they went to the newer style bladders in 23. None of the listed 22 P/Ns carry over.

When the '23s came out I ordered both a Lariat and a Platinum. In the last year I took both VINs to a dealer parts guy I know, and had him pull the diagrams and listings for both front seats, and compiled part numbers for everything different between them. However, the parts system is kind of a PITA and I'm not convinced it is complete still; when I first tried back in 23 there was almost no info, then this last year there is a lot more in the system.

I haven't looked at this in a few months, but hadn't been able to definitively nail down the upper bladders or the modules (if they are a separate part still). Been hoping to find at least one complete take-out set from either a 23+ SD or 21+ F150 (all other SD parts appear to also cross to F150). I found a complete set out of an F150 on ebay, but they never showed, and I had to track him down to get my money back 6 months later...

Alright, tackling the MCS seat swap on my 23 F450. Got all the parts (minus one RH side bladder, waiting).

Installed all of the components in the driver's seat. Had to use an F150 harness for the lower seat due to parts availability; turns out they are identical except a sensor (impact sensor on LH seat) that the F150 has an extra plug for. Have found guys who took complete parts from an F150 and put it into a 350 with no issue except the extra plug. Unfortunately, they aren't active online apparently, and my attempts to reach out have gone nowhere.

Made only one change in the BCM at 7D0-01-03, first digit from 5 to a 7. Noticed that in plain English, the 'Enhanced Multi-Contour Seats' changed to 'Active'. I did not see any additional modules show up in Forscan either; it looks like that happens on '22< trucks, but not sure that is the case on the 23+ since the seat module is the same (one on driver's seat). This is the primary question I am trying to answer; is there any other changes I need to make (don't think so).

Everything works except the lower bladder. Hit the button and the menus pop up on screen, I can select the first two options (both upper options) but can't select the lower ones or scroll to them via the physical controls. I am wondering if there is a physical problem somewhere, but have plugged and replugged stuff with no change. All plugs accounted for. So now I'm looking for Forscan info. I have asbuilts from my lariat truck and my essentially identical platinum to compare. Once I get it working and get my last RH side part, I'll do a '23 writeup. And yes, ALL the parts are different.

Damn this is so awesome to see it's still pumping with information.

Getting the parts for both seats from a wrecked truck for around $650 would be totally worth it. Hope the few guys that got jacked on this option have good luck!
So can someone explain this? They removed the functionality from the MCS? As in this is what happens when you get a max recline seat or can you have both?
