Depends on the plan but they’re over-provisioned by about 10-15% in my experience.

I have been out on a job in remote central Nevada. Purchased a starlink mini from Home Depot along with a solar generator from Harbor Freight before I left. No mount, just put the starlink on my dash and plugged it into my solar generator. Had music and cell service for the whole job. Not only me, but the whole crew. Got downloads about 220 MBPS and uploads at 12 MBPS, even on the 2 hour drive out to location and back. Currently on the 50 GB monthly roaming plan with $1 per GB over 50. Cat's meow.

I'll probably purchase directly from Starlink. I'll wait for a few days first and see if the stock magically replenishes at Cabela's after their add on discount has passed.

Says it's on sale until May 28 2025. My brother just got one on the way and I used mine all weekend long at the dunes. Small price to pay for such a luxury. Just makes we wonder if a Mini 2 is on the way this year.

You beat me to it, with almost a 50% discount, it almost seems they're preparing for a newer version.

I can't believe I waited this long to get mine.

I relied on WeBoost for way too long, only to be tossed in my garbage can sooner rather than later.

How far away can you use your phone with the Starlink mini? I know it says 10’ radius but does it work further? I got the standard gen 3 a couple weeks ago for the sol reason it has a 35’ radius and I don’t want my truck parked within 10 feet of a campfire if I had the mini

Depends largely on the amount of interference in the area. My phone was connected in this picture which is wild. SL Mini.

Edited to add that it’s mounted to the roof glass inside the cab so there is some signal attenuation right out of the gate. Range would be even better if truly line of sight with no barriers.

that is the downside to starlink.
anyone with experience please correct me if I'm incorrect here.

in a direct, no interference area the starlink will probably preform better than expected. so, you will probably have a larger area of coverage than the 17/18 ft radius of the specified coverage with either one, mini or standard.

if you are not hard mounted, bolted in??? you could take advantage of the longer network cord that comes with the kit. you could probably use a rock for optimum alignment or a portable stand.

another easy fix would be a network booster. take a 15ft extension cord plug in a booster. you could get as much as 50 ft additional coverage, depending on the network booster you use.

i have the standard by accident. glad i got it due to, it's faster & larger coverage area.

I'll use it first time in july. if i end up having to stay too close to the truck I'll get a network relay booster.

Mine was working across a well location, so about 300 ft. At least for cell phones. My rig crew was picking up signal driving behind me on the road in. It is more than 10 feet.

35'. its more than that.


in this campfire photo... the SL mini my buddy has, that i'm connected to in order to post the photo... is near the water directly above the fire in the picture (orange case). Thats a lot more than 35'. I would guess 50-75'

At the campsite the next evening... i bet I was 100' and still getting decent signal/speeds.
