Rough Country Hidden Winch Mount

I am very interested in this part for a winch install. I am getting ready to watch the video. Good find.

I might have missed it, but what brand of winches does the mount support without any crazy modifications?

I just picked up this unit since there was no need to purchase a radar relocation bracket, (all the ones on the market are over 200 dollars ) and I have a HF Apex 12k synthetic winch, I'll probably start the install this week. I'll post up pics if I get the time. I had the other winch mount but just never got the time to get it welded together to mount up and didnt want to deal with the hassle of the radar relocation/alignment.

Alright. I’m contemplating ordering this kit with the rough country winch. I’m usually the type of person who buys once cries once. I don’t have the time or energy to pour into seeing if a different winch fits right now and we haven’t heard much from the people who have purchased this kit. Is there any reason why I should shy away from this winch? Reviews seem okay, price is in the “too good to be true” category. Also, I’m really hoping someone can confirm this works with the diesel. The YouTube above is a 7.3 gas. Looking to order by the weekend.

^ what he said. Lol

So, I am trying to do the install and have found the problem someone else has had from another forum while trying to install the winch bracket, it will not mount with where engine radiator where it's at, right now the bolts are loose so I could try and maneuver it around, plus that doesn't even account for the back support brackets that still need to be installed. there are two radiators on the diesel, the motor's radiator(rear) and the accessories radiator(forward) for the fuel and the charge air cooler. I also tried inserting the bracket between the space between the two radiators just to see if it would work(last pic) but it wants to hit the engine radiator when I install the bracket mount bolts. I called rough country and they said they only have one kit for gas and diesel and they said no one has had an issue yet, but its a new kit. So, not sure what to do here, gonna send pics to their tech support so we'll see. but for now I CANNOT recommend anyone getting this mount for at least a 2021 6.7 diesel F-250 tremor.

Can you update your post with your engine model as well?
BTW: thank you for the detailed pictures, this will help many of us
According to his "about" info he has a 6.7L...

Ordered mount and winch from RC, will report back after I receive and install it on my '21 F350 Tremor Lariat 7.3 Gas
I called RC to ask if there was a specific reason they didn't list F350 as a compatible fitment, given they're identical up front to the F250s and tried encourage them to consider updating their product page lest they continue to needlessly miss out on potential business due to bad information.

The lady on the phone at RC kept doubling down and was adamant that this would not fit an F350 due to differences compared to an F250, but could provide no particular details to support the claim. I gave up arguing with her and look forward to hearing of your uneventful install on the F350.

yeah, the guy I initially talked to on the phone for tech support didn't give me warm fuzzies when I was talking to him. I don't think some of them know the products they sell other than what's on their product info. I got a lot of crickets as I waited for some type of support. I think he was just waiting for me to just say "ok" and hang up.

I called about a month ago and asked about the 250-350 thing. Guy on the phone said it will fit the 350. I said they should update the listing as well as I’m sure there will be plenty of 350 owners that will just pass it by.

have you tried to mount the winch plate under the front core it looks like after reviewing the video in this tread that he has the top of the plate inside the space under the core, in the last picture it looks like if you just move the plate forward to clear the bottom of the core it will work within the core channel.

Am I to assume that the radiators are different between the gasser and the oil burner?

sure did, when I tried that it will not mount up without wanting to push a hole in the rear radiator, it looks like the rear radiator has to sit up about a 1.5" to clear the rear radiator to clear for any type of flex while winching.

as for the rigidity of the kit, the two back plates are quite beefy and make up the strength to make 1/4" steel work to minimize flex. For the mounting braces and brackets, it is very similar design to fords hidden winch system, the winch plate is where they differ.

If RC does not come back with modifications, would it be possible for you to drill new mounting holes in the brackets to move the plate down enough to clear the radiators?
I am just thinking about mods without being able to see all of the situation.

well this just sucks !!!!! I was ready to order this mount and a EVO 12S... This could be a really stupid area but what if you were to trim the top of the mounting bracket above the winch mounting holes considering the top two holes are then bolted to the top mounting bracket that is already going to be stiffened up when bolted to the frame? Just looking at pictures is tough maybe cutting it will be to close to the mounting holes .

I thought about that, don't really want to cut the kit, thinking of returning it and just getting a refund. I definately am going to call back on monday and see if I can talk to someone who knows the product a little better. dunno, maybe someone else will figure it out better than I did. I tried multiple ways of trying to mount it up and every time the second radiator seems to be in the way, I like to think of myself somewhat mechanically inclined, but who knows. maybe i just geeked something up.

please let us know the outcome hopefully they have answers for you and this can work.
