Rough Country Hidden Winch Mount

part II of the saga with Rough Country, I got ahold of another customer service rep. gave the shpeel over text messages and pictures to the rep. he also couldn't help either, he gave me a name and number of a R&D person to contact tomorrow. hopefully I can call get time during the day to contact them and figure this out. I also asked about getting a return and he sent the link for the refund. so they have been working with me so far.

If you can, can you wait until you hear from R&D before you return it? Need a final verdict on whether they're going to bother redesigning it or not. Decision will determine if I will go for it or an aftermarket bumper.

I thought about that, don't really want to cut the kit, thinking of returning it and just getting a refund. I definately am going to call back on monday and see if I can talk to someone who knows the product a little better. dunno, maybe someone else will figure it out better than I did. I tried multiple ways of trying to mount it up and every time the second radiator seems to be in the way, I like to think of myself somewhat mechanically inclined, but who knows. maybe i just geeked something up.
I had the same problem as you. They sent me a new mounting bracket but unfortunately I haven’t been able to attempt the install do to an injury. But the kit looks the same so I’m not holding my breath that it’s gonna work. I spent hours trying to figure out want I’m doing wrong. I have a 22 6.7

I couldn't get ahold of the person in R&D, I left voicemails and called multiple time throughout today. I did get a answer to a question I had on their question and answer section, they replied to me saying they had not verified that it works on a tremor. I am just returning it and am looking at the Fab 4 matrix prerunner.

Bummer. Now I will have to contact R&D 😩

Maybe you should offer to consult on the design to make it easier on them to get the product right this time ;)

If the F250 Tremor is the same as an F350 Tremor, and they’re advertising it as F250 only (non Tremor) we may have figured it out. But not sure why the radiators would be different between an F250 and F350 (non Tremor), or they didn’t design for the diesel at all across the board.

I would venture a guess that it would not work on either 250 or 350 with a 6.7. Tremor or not.

Early on I had read of RC's response to why it only fits the F-250 being that they had only fit the kit to the 250, so they were only willing to list it as fitting the 250. The 250 and 350 are no different (Tremor and non Tremor) where it matters to the fitment of this kit, so that leaves possible gas vs diesel differences. I tried to determine what fuel type their truck in the add is, but couldn't find a shot of the exhaust. It doesn't have any badges, which might mean gas, but they could have removed them. Since they don't specifically say that it doesn't work with the 6.7l, has anyone asked if they have installed it on a diesel SD?

If you have Facebook - take a look at this post. There is a RC employee on there who had a good bit of experience with the kit. I messaged with him a handful of times. https://m.facebook.com/groups/fordtremor/permalink/1316604485652914/?mibextid=Nif5oz

I'm guessing their content writer doesn't have any real knowledge of the trucks and they translated the 7.3 vs 6.7 radiator difference to 250 vs 350. ...like they mighta had a 250 gasser and a 350 diesel and just ran w the 3/4 vs 1 ton designations.

I don't have the kit but I would think that you could trim it down for fit and double up on the base plate for additional support. Do y'all think that would work?

I too want this to work. Even with the modifications, way better than the +$3,000 WARN option.

It might be possible to trim an inch off of the top of the plate or more if you lower the winch mounting holes. That is what I’m considering doing to make this work.

don't forget the two brace brackets on the back of the winch plate. those holes and the brace brackets are bent to the angle and the height of the winch plate in the stock form. if you lower the plate or the holes, all that changes and the brace brackets will no longer allign to the bracket it mounts to both the holes and the angles of the preformed bracket bends, just food for thought as I had also thought about this

I hope you don't return it yet, lots of us are hanging in your balance for some good info.

sorryfella's, fab4 matrix prerunner on order. I always kinda wanted a nice aftermarket front bumper, this one seems pretty solid and I don't have to worry about the paint on it either.

I might try and mess with it while I wait for the new bumper though. but I don't see it working where I would be comfortable with the clearances if it does sit in there. If it is true that some have gotten it to fit with the plate hitting the bottom of the radiator. it'll only be a matter of time before the radiator gets rubbed through if not punctured at some point, no thank you to that.
