PPE Sterling 11.6 Differential Cover

Cause most other people dipped out of round gauges to LCD/LED display screens that show the same info. Banks does have a great gauge device for those who like the older style smaller round gauges.

Screen below shows active regen in progress with small green LED indicator.

I have the option to use the screen below on 3 pages. So that would be 16 PIDs per page, like 48 PIDs total. To include I can add several optional sensors to the system if needed/desired to configure them to my liking. As well as an option to use a power relay accessory that controls switching to a relay. I have used the Edge pressure and temperature add-on sensors in the past with no issues. I have not used the power relay feature add-on.
I'm not saying it's 1000% better than Banks, but I have my options.

Not into suction cup installs, the Banks double A pillar is a clean oem look install. Has more parameters than anyone should need!!

Edge is definitely a fantastic device. I've ran similar setups but being able to view data in a small 52mm pod allows it to be tucked up or in pretty much any location to not obscure your view.

Ordered the PPE cover

This site says 4.12 quarts of 75W-140 Synthetic.

Ordered 5 quarts of this

Not sure if the PPE comes with a gasket or I need one.

That may or may not be correct. See here:

It's not in any way blocking my view where it's placed. Low enough to the dash while easy to see.

Edge now has an arm mount that uses the driver's handle mount. So no longer is a suction cup mount required.

So...is there a set? Front and rear? And do I need them?
Front is reusable, rear needs to be replaced. Lubelocker doesn’t currently offer an option for the 11.6 Sterling so it’s gonna be OEM.

On the 23/24 7.3 11.6 Sterling with 4.30 gear ratio & ELD I can confirm 4.12 quarts.

(3.31/3.55/3.73 with ELD is 4.02 qts)

Rant- (WTH 0.12qts (4oz) gotta buy a 5th bottle for correct fill then there’s 28oz of $$ gear oil left in the bottle)

Curious what are you basing the 4.12 quarts number on or how did you confirm it? If it was from filling your diff previously and you got 4.12 in it, what year and month was your truck manufactured?

Sorry...I was thinking the actual covers.

I clarified this above >> 23/24 11.6 Sterling (with 4.30 gears) is 4.12 qts. Lesser gear ratios is 4.02 Qts

Where did I find this: I went into the Motorcraft tech service page (motorcraftservice.com) and bought a 3day subscription to download the factory service manual. When I loaded the rear drive axle/differential section- the service manual loads vin specific build spec data. The procedure revision date was 4/1/2024 ( no joke lol)

FYI my build date was 6/24/24

Semi off topic- trucks equipped with Sterling 11.6 axles built before January 19, 2023 have the fill plug lower than it should be- and to get the correct fill level, you gotta remove and fill through the locker electrical connector adaptor. Another reason to get an aftermarket cover with fill (that’s hopefully designed at the correct fill height) and drain plugs.

This is great information thank you. I have a June 2023 build so being a 2023 truck I was not sure which version I had. So when you say January 19, 2023... is this specific to truck build date, or strictly axle manufacture date? Does your manual say? If it's for the axle itself I need to crawl under and look for date tag on the axle.

Edit: I see now it says "vehicle built". I still may see if I can find a date tag on the axle anywhere. This is very useful information for 2023 owners.

I’m interpreting the service manual to say 11.6 equipped trucks with a build date after January 19th 2023 have the revised axle housing with fill hole at the correct level -

where on the differential is the correct level for the fill hole? my truck was build 12/23, so I am guessing it is fine. but just in case the differential was build long before the truck, I would like to know where the proper fill hole level should be

In the service manual for the 11.6 truck with build date after January 19 , 2023 it looks to me like right to the lower edge of the fill hole- FSM states 0mm

For the 4.30- I would fill to 4qts then start adding the remaining 4 ounces (0.12 qts) until it starts to trickle out of the fill hole.

where is the hole on the earlier diffs? lower?
Thats my understanding since the requirement (for pre January 19, 2023 build dates) to get to the correct fill level is to remove the ELD connector and fill there, which sits higher near the top of the diff.

If you take a close look at the first image Abuck99 posted - it shows that for trucks built after 1/19/23, the measurement from the casting down to the bottom of the fill hole is 27mm. That is about 1 1/16". I did a quick measurement on my truck earlier and I measured right at about 1 1/16". I have a June 2023 built truck, so I would say you are fine. I could find no axle tags anywhere on the axle with an axle manufactured date, which would have been nice to see. But there are no identifiers that I could find
