FYI 2022 Updated Production Schedule

Gotta love that answer “don’t worry I’ve been doing this for 20 years, I don’t know the answer” lol wut?

The thing is, even if every order is getting an 80... Ford is still getting a code for a stock order. And the common thinking has been that retails are going first. Just going by what I’m hearing but I’d push to have it changed myself.
In some ways, we are lucky. We sold our home and are living full-time in a 5th wheel RV in Washington. We do plan to tow the RV to Arizona in late November, so we want to get delivery by then. We purchased the truck from a dealership just south of Minneapolis, so that is where we will pick it up. We will be staying at my sisters home in Nebraska from September 1st until we get the call from Apple Valley Ford to come get the truck. Time is on our side, assuming Ford can build our truck in six months.

My 2022 has a build date of 7/26. I assume the build date is when the truck goes into production, how long does it actually take to build the truck and what are the steps the truck has to go through once the truck is complete? I know when I ordered my raptor, once it hit the final ramp # (can't recall what that # is) it was loaded onto a rail car for an extended train ride around the country LOL.

During normal times, the trucks are built within a few hours once starting on the line, save for some options which are installed by third parties or dealers where the truck ships to them for completion.

Currently, all trucks are going to storage after initial bucking for an indeterminate period of time. They are somehow then being completed. Currently we have no imperial information on how that final production step is taking place. We also to my knowledge have not yet seen reports of vehicles that were bucked after the March shutdown being completed as yet.

It’s also the case that shipping/hauling is a mess right now and so typical shipping times and methods may not apply.

So to reiterate if you’re waiting on a truck right now, most likely process is:

- Initial (majority of) build is completed within a few hours
- Truck moves to storage for some months (3, 6, 12, we don’t know.)
- Truck is somehow completed once parts are available (either it re-enters the line, or there are rumors [that I’m highly skeptical of] that it would be shipped with parts to dealership to be completed)
- Truck ships to third party installers for options (I’m not sure what options cause this step, others here can clarify, but I believe it’s things like bed liners, steps, and covers)
- Truck ships to dealer by various methods, and this step likely takes 1-2 months at least based on current reports
- Dealer checks and potentially completes truck (installs dealer add-ons and maybe installs missing modules based on current [unlikely] rumors.)
- You pick up truck ?

Let's see, if we take your worst case, it would put someone waiting over 14 months. We all know that hasn't been the case. It might be more helpful, to pot positive vs "Doom& Gloom"

I provided real information, and answered the question as best as I can. Nothing doom and gloom about it.

I could also promise free ponies with every truck if it makes you feel better.

You'll be happier for it. This was same thing I felt in March. No regrets now cancelling 2022 and getting a 2021.

I was guessing Nov/Dec then. I don’t think there’s any meaningful chance 2022’s will be delivered before 2022 now. Situation gets worse everyday.
Yep, you only post facts. Want to make a wager on any 22's being delivered before the first of the year.

dude. I provided a range of possibilities. We’re on a discussion forum. Having a discussion. Don’t get so worked up. Enjoy your weekend.

Im inclined to agree Renesas Electronics Corporation one Ford's largest tier one chip supplier said production was at 88% capacity in mid May and should reach 100% by mid June . Ford's stock has skyrocketed 36% in the last month indicating Wall Street is expecting gains prior to Ford's Q2 report. Whatever the outcome those that ordered have something to look forward to in the future!

Now that is what I call a positive post ??????

This is great news about Renesas, I googled it and thought I would put a link. Sounds like full production in a week or so. https://www.renesas.com/us/en/about...factory-naka-factory-fire-production-capacity

Whatever, good luck laying eyes on a ‘22 before next summer. j/k between the fact that Ford is assigning build dates next month and the simple fact that there is WAY too much on the line for them to not get this situation under control ASAP I’m feeling pretty good about these trucks rolling into dealers by September. ?

When I spoke with the dealer the other day and he gave me the 7/26 build date he made no mention of unusual delays, in fact, he said that it was a distinct possibility that the truck would be built even sooner if the anticipated chips came quicker. I was just trying to find out how long it takes to build the truck once they start.

Currently is the operative word and it might apply more to what was happening 30-60 days ago. Ford is suppose to be shutting down production at this time to reboot for the 2022 builds to begin being built. They could very well be sitting on truckloads of semi-conductors they had been in short supply of a few months ago. They could be preparing to start back up with three shifts and delivering trucks to dealers like never before. They are highly motivated and probably very resourceful. If there is a supplier that needed to be incentivized to add more employees and run 24/7 to fill demand for chips, Ford would likely use all means to get them moving. Who semiconductor supplier wants to go tell the boss that Ford will be going elsewhere to find a more reliable vendor?

Certainly in the realm of possibility! Unlikely when you consider the facts at hand. But possible!

There is the matter of all of the 2021 orders that have yet to be built and delivered. But maybe 2022 is a special number in Chinese or something.

I really am hoping that I don't have to wait to terribly long to get the 22 built, however I don't want the truck to arrive too quickly; I've got a king ranch dually to sell! I would love to move it while it's a seller's market.

Doesn’t code 80 designate a dealer stock order? I would check on that and ensure it is in the system as retail so you are not delayed.
Thanks to everyone for the helpful tips. I got this message this morning from my salesman;

"You are a priority 10 order I sent it to your phone earlier. Please call with questions."

That seems to be what others are wanting and perhaps it does mean something better than a priority code 80.

I contacted Ford marketing last week and was able to get VIN but no build date. This morning I contacted dealer and was given a 7/26 build date. Woo-hoo . I better get off my ass and order a camper shell for my kids ( dogs really) .

Platinum Tremor priority order 10 placed March 26,2021, called Ford Marketing with dealer and unfortunately still processing. In fact none of my dealers 2022 SD orders have processed yet.
