Fox 2.5 HTO

The top of the stud was held with a 1/4” drive breaker bar (8” long) and a socket style Allen.
I literally did not know there was such a thing as a 1/4" breaker bar. Sounds like something comical from the @Optimus🤖 toolbox!

You would be correct!

Who knew Optimus had a small tool...

(I'm only talking about the literal tools.)
I mean you would have to see it to believe it, but what if it is so small you can’t? Sounds like a Heisenberg uncertainty problem!

Which feels like a Schrodinger issue. My cats really don't appreciate testing that experiment but they do like the Amazon box part.

Seriously these shocks have been discontinued?

When I spoke to Fox, I was told they are planning on a new release by the end of the year. They are trying to consolidate their part numbers for the front shocks to cover a larger range of model years. They did not elaborate or specifically mention that the current 987-24-000 (0-1.5”) Shock was incorrect for my 2024.

With the vast majority of Tremor owners having installed these successfully I went ahead and ordered a full set as well from @Nick@ApolloOff-Road. Hope to install them soon.

My guess is their concern is the 0-1.5 size on non-Tremors. The shorter spring of a non-Tremor means even less compression travel after already sacrificing ~1” to accommodate the HTO valve. I have about 3” of compression travel, so a stock non-Tremor is probably only 2”.

The redesign will probably sacrifice an inch of extension travel in exchange for an inch of compression travel. They are currently longer than they need to be anyway and can stress the brake lines at full droop.

Wait, so the 0-1.5 inch shocks Apollo offroad is a selling are wrong for our trucks? My set will be here Saturday. Should I return it?

I wouldn't return them. I'd run them. Unless you are really and I mean really hammering the front end of your truck you will be just fine. Look back a page or so for my pictures. The fronts are the only concern. The rears are good to go.

I have them on my tremor and they are fine. I don’t race around the desert but I do hit bumpy ass roads sometimes faster than I should while hunting and they hold up just fine

Any word about whether or not Fox is planning on releasing a revised HTO for Tremor applications?
Yes, apparently they're coming some time at the end of the year.

We have put these shocks on dozens of trucks, you will be totally fine on a Tremor.

And for the record, these shocks are also the exact same shocks included in the S&B 2.5" kits.

I think Fox is doing this out of an absolute abundance of caution.

If you would like to return them, just let me know and we can get that figured out.

If you say they will work, then I’m good to go. Thanks!

I install my front set “000” today. No issues. I didn’t seem to have any issues with either front. Rears are pretty easy. I removed the front tires only for more room, I probably could have installed them without but I like easy. Passenger side is a PIA only because of wheel liner. With 20k miles on the truck, the stud was pretty rusted and I don’t get much rain here. FWIW Ford could sell the wheel well liner material to cut glass.

I didn’t seem to have any issues issue tightening the top nut on the fronts. Used a 19mm ratchet wrench and held shock with other hand.

I can reply back with my impressions on the ride quality after I put some miles on them.
