CAN I PULL A 5TH WHEEL LUXURY TOY HAULER SAFELY WITH MY TREMOR. CAN I ALSO ADD MY CARLI PINTOP 2.5 KIT

All 3 of those brands are out if your focus is quality materials and build. You are going to have to go small, rear pull, or lower end to hit the payload envelope without going to a more exotic setup like a slide in camper + equipment trailer, or pulling doubles.

Another option is to go F350/450 then you can get whatever 45ft+ 20k+ # toy hauler you want. If going that route, the F450 is generally the no brainer over the dually F350 but some state regs may flip that.

Keep in mind when going with toy haulers that large is that it massively limits where you can take the setup if its a regulated/commercial campground, national park, etc. Places that say they can take a 40 footer always fail to mention how much of a PITA it will be to get it to where it belongs. Also, some states have additional licensing due to the weights. CA requires a non commercial class A license over 15k# trailer GVWR and a recreational trailer endorsement on a class C for 10k-15k#.

Its kind of a funny trade off that you lose 700# of payload when switching from the 7.3L gas to 6.7L diesel. The diesel tows substantially better but the gasser has a ~20% higher payload in the Tremor models.
I got ever option in my Platinum F350 6.7 with the winch. My capacity is 3,052. Now I have an board air compressor and air bag set up. Pier Stop break kit, and LP6 panel lights. Now add my wife and I and whatever else I want to pack I’m going to be limited. I have a Carli Pintop suspension that I didn’t even have installed. Reality is smacking me. LOL. The GD 31g 1600 hitch and length 36’ with 13’ garage of the GD 29G 1500 hitch weight 11’ garage and 34’ length. BUT Queen bed. That’s the compromise.
This seems to be the 2 on the top of my list as travel toy haulers. Wifey really wanted the GD 320G with 2300 hitch 11’ garage and 36’ length but I can’t see it happening. It just won’t work out in reality. Sucks but it is reality. ?‍♂️

Wow something else to consider. What brand exactly. And what is your hitch weight. I see this Sportster one that’s lite as shit. Pics would help also. Thanks Brother Man.

We ended up with an Arctic Wolf bunkhouse. The toyhauler versions are the Wolf Pack line. Its a low end trailer with alloy wheels, an auto leveler, and eye piecing blue LEDs designed to appeal to newer buyers. Low end furnishings and even lower end build quality.

It’s awesome that you found one. I’m stoked for you. It gets me more excited to figure me one myself. ????

?Here’s to hoping you can find a 5th wheel that’ll work out for you. There are SO many out there, I keep thinking/Googling surely somebody makes one that’s right for you. Like you and others have said, there will be some degree of compromise on wants/needs/reality. Don’t throw in the towel on a 5th wheel just yet!

@Ironman- maybe you’re looking for the wrong thing. Look up “Thor Motor-coaches” the “outlaw” class will hold your bikes and have the luxuries you are searching for. You have a great selection of automobiles to tow behind it depending on your destination.
I had a plan for going this route but with kids toys getting bigger there just wasn’t enough garage for everything . I couldn’t make it work. Good luck with this mind F$CK I just tossed your way .??

I know this probably doesn’t help much but both times I bought an RV, I would go to the local RV show and directly compare the models I am interested in. Most of the sales guys are knowledgeable and will point out the differences. RV shows usually offer the lowest prices for the year.
cheers?

I would like to mention an important issue regarding towing. I can't speak for other states, but in California if you tow a bumper pull that exceeds 10k GVWR or a 5th wheel that exceeds 15k GVWR, you need a Noncommercial A endorsement added to your license. This is both a written and driving test with a DMV employee.

Remember, if you get in an accident and someone is injured or worse, the driver of the trailer could face negligence charges for towing out of license.

Also, 10k-15k trailer needs a recreational trailer endorsement on a class C

Everyone might call me crazy but I tow a Keystone Raptor 429 with my F350 Tremor. 45'6" long 16,800 lbs empty with a 3,600 lb hitch weight. I have zero issues, but also have a lot of towing experience and am very careful. Keep in mind axle and payload ratings are extremely underrated and are really only for registration purposes. Tires are usually the real weakest point, but our factory tires have plenty of payload capacity. I do have bags and a compressor and the truck sits and rides incredible. Power definitely is not a problem - I've done the Tehachapi and Grape Vine here in California several times and the truck handles it better than my buddy's Ram Cummins towing a 12k lbs toy hauler. I just wish Ford had a real exhaust brake.

A 3600LB loaded pin weight would be within many of the 350 Gasser Tremors capacity and possibly some lower optioned 6.7Ls. Can the truck safely take that and more more without being a danger more than likely but for legal reasons most are going to say it’s unsafe. Jump to a CCLB SRW 6.7 and now payload is well north of the 3600Lbs more around 4500LB range, does that extra 15” length with same axle and springs really add that much to payload? “I do not recommend loading past capacity for your particular truck”;) but suspect that the Tremor can safely handle much more weight than the ratings it has been given.

I have a 2021 F350 Tremor Ultimate Lariat 6.7L SRW.. Payload is 3327. I put on a 2 1/2 leveling kit and added airbags. We are wating on our Grand Design Solitude 390RK-R. We ordered it with the 8k axles, 17.5 h rated tires and disc brakes. GVWR will be 18k but we will keep it under 17k. Hitch weight is 2800 empty. Have no idea what we will be loaded but based off what I have seen in other forums, most are running right around 3300 pounds for their loaded hitch weight.

We chose to go for it.

Good point for people for people registering in California. I don't think this applies to visitors/vehicles from different states in California though. However, if you get pulled over or go through an inspection and you're over your weights then you would be in trouble. I don't know if I read it on here or heard it somewhere else but the powers that be can hold your camper/trailer until you come up with a vehicle that is properly equipped/rated to pull it. Doesn't sound like much fun on a family vacation to Wally World.

And let me assure you, California is Wally world run by ammusement park balloon holding clowns. But I digress!

I think you should get the trailer you want, but be fully prepared to need to replace your tow vehicle if you don't like it. So I would ditch the Carli stuff and don't waste more money on the Tremor until you see how it tows your dream trailer. As much as I hate Facebook I have to recommend finding RV forums specific to the model line you are planning to get on Facebook. Grand Design's are all nice and pleasant. I have a GD Imagine 2800BH and I am a member of the GD Imagine 2400/2800 group (similar trailers), the GD Imagine group, and many others. Most people are pleasant. The rude ones are quickly banned, which is the main plus of the Facebook groups.

I agree on the Carli lift. You are relegated to air bags pumped up to diminish squatting.

Not sure if this was covered but take a good look at the places you intend to use the trailer, open desert, beach spots, large national parks, or wooded areas. I take my toy hauler to my dirt biking destinations and most all the places I ride are in the woods/mountains, RV sites in these areas can be pretty tight with lots of low overhead clearance areas (trees), some of my friends with 5th wheels have a really hard time getting into sites, if they get in at all. A lot of times they have to find spots well outside the place everyone is closer to the trailheads. I have had my bumper pull toy hauler over 10 years and haven’t even considered a 5th wheel due to this, if my areas of interest changed to something that takes me into more open spaces like the desert or dunes I’d get a 5th wheel in a minute. The luxury of the big 5th wheels is nice but I really don’t spend a whole lot of time in the trailer so I don’t really find myself displeased with what I have
