Banks Ram Air CAI

@Stormtrooper any chance you spend some time near the marina?

I swear I saw your truck last time I was in Socal for some meetings. Love me a extended cab.... If only my dog was 100lbs...

That's what I was going to do, but so much conflicting information if it is even worth it.

Well, Banks does a lot of research which I do like. They also publish their research and it makes it easy to market their products when the research shows gains in their favor. That's what sold me on their Diff cover back on my last Tremor. I wanted one for my 23 but apparently they don't make one for the DANA M300 yet. But I do have their Gauge Pod, their Cold Air Intake, and their Exhaust. Together it's a really nice package. Gains are noticeable, not huge, but noticeable.

How about the exhaust?
The 5" system is a nice kit. . If you plan to run Carli's trophy hitch, there is now a 4" stainless solution with additional clearance for larger shocks, a Carli trophy hitch, 38" tires and a B&W gooseneck hitch, all of which are issues with the stock exhaust or other existing aftermarket systems.

The 5" reduces backpressure by 82%. Some like to say there is no point to a after-DPF exhaust but Gale says if you reduce pressure post DPF, then pre DPF exhaust pressure will reduce, as should things up the line. That fancy exhaust tip they rave about sure is massive, but according to the marketing (@HeavyAssault has me paranoid now lol) it adds low pressure and makes a huge deal to get that thing flowing better.

Another reason I like the Banks CAI is the ability to relocate the factory filter minder, meaning you can simply look at that to see if your filter requires cleaning. Sure, you can open up the hosing and look old school, bit Ford already gave us this when you got the truck, it doesnt take much to just put it in the new system.
If you want to talk shop about CARB / EPA compliant performance mods for your Super Duty, reach out! We still need to get the 5" on our site...

My truck is straight piped with a 4” pipe that connects to the Banks 5” which I had cerakoted black so you don’t see if from the wheel well which dumps out the back end before the 37” spare that is under the truck on the new Carli hitch.

@gmoon is correct. We had to modify my Banks 5” and push it forward to work with the Carli hitch and the Carli eVenture kit. My truck was one of the reasons CJC and Carli got with banks to do a redesign on.

I was able to get Banks 5” to work because my truck is deleted and we ended up pushing the straight pipe forward by cutting and modifying to fit the 5” Banks pipe to dump. The clearance around the rear shock is tight but we got it to work. The redesigned 4” pipe clears the shock for those not deleting their trucks.

I like the Roush. It is stainless and not the aluminized steel. I also do not like the huge tip on the banks. I don’t think it is proportional to the rest of the truck. Sound is great and no drone View attachment 176061View attachment 176064
That does look badass.

I like that the new CJC/Banks 4" exhaust is true stainless and not aluminized like Banks' 5"... Why they didnt just go stainless (probably $$$) I dont know!

Before the tips, it looks like the same size as stock? Did they just eliminate the resonator?
No resonator. 4'' throughout. I didn't want to do a 5'' due to the spare tire.

Did you do a full delete?

Did you do a full delete?
Yes I did a full delete. DPF deleted, CCV Delete/Rerouted, EGR cooler deleted and DEF tank removed. The truck also has a 5 position SOTF tune.

You can see in the photo below where the EGR cooler was removed and the cooling plate was installed when I was working on the truck.

I did a handful of other modifications at that time as well:

- SPE Injector Kit
- SPE Disaster Prevention Kit
- SPE Billet Oil Pump Gear
- SPE Injector Hold Down Kit
- SPE Piping Kit (Hot & Cold Side)
- SPE Booklung Billet Intercooler
- SPE CCV Reroute Kit
- SPE CCV Internal Catch Can
- SPE CCV External Catch Can
- SPE Coolant Reroute Kit
- SPE Low Temp High Flow Thermostat
- SPE Oil Pan
- SPE Transmission Pan
- SPE Billet Battery Hold Downs

Indeed, Dan at SPE takes pride in his parts development and design and it shows.

There’s a few companies in Canada that sell tunes/tuners…
