7.3L spark plug/coil wire failure

Can I assume that this issue is not present on the new Tremors? Sucks you guys had to deal with something like that on a brand new truck
After 2 design changes with the plug wires in less than about a year of initial problems reported, I sure hope they resolved the issue. I have the 2020 that had the "A" wires. Dealer said replacement called for the "B" ones. Which I suspect was their 1st attempt at rectifying the issue. But, why did they come out with a "C" variant? I suspect they're just trying to push those "B" wires to warranty claims till they run out of them. My logic said replace with the "C" type and eat the $100. Which was 1/2 the cost of the "B" wires that I probably could have had the dealer replace for free. Maybe, I'll contact Ford and try to get reimbursement if it really bothers me. Wasn't thrilled about the dealer joyriding my truck over 30 miles like they did the 1st time I brought it there for other issues.

If you don't tow and don't tow specifically heavier weight upgrades in heat. Then, should be fine. Otherwise, keep a scan tool and spare wire or two in your vehicle...AT ALL TIMES!

Here's the other/older thread I couldn't find for some reason. Tells a little more about the issue. GL

BTW, I'll report back if/when I run into any problems with the "C" replacement wires. Summer is coming soon and it gets hot over here in the desert.

Update to this thread. The below picture shows the Massive wires after only 4500 miles. Use at your own risk.

You really gotta know that I hope someone from Massive sees this and f'n does something. But I doubt it.

whats strange is why ford cant figure out how to make a sucessful plug wire after several attempts. gasoline engine been around 150yrs. that should be enough time to sort out the simple things

Well ford had replaced all my wires last August to the "new" C wire and I just lost cylinder 3 wire the other night. Has anyone had 100% success and actually tow or work their truck hard with the new wires or any wires? I am about to trade it in on something else this is terrible.

We replaced ours at 10k miles with the C version. No problems with the C. We tow a 27ft Airstream and also drive off road a lot. We are currently at 30k miles. Also, just did the 30k mile service. No issues. We own a 2020 F250 Lariat Sport Tremor 7.3l V8.

See a lot of people carrying just one wire, is it just one that goes or one in particular? Do the 22s have the c wire?

After replacing all the wires. We carry 2 extra C version wires. I hope to never use them.

Almost 40,000 miles on the original wires and not a single problem.

has anyone considered upgrading to electric fans? Maybe the belt driven fan in insufficient when towing.

yeah turns out I do not have C wires but I have B so I have C on order and will put them in. I hardly even work my truck and have lost 4 wires now. People that don't have problems probably never will. Its usually always cylinder 2, 3 or 7. I have confirmed with a couple people that had serious issues before that are good now with the C. The C are for the 7.3 installed in chassis vehicles like motorhomes.

Me too. 44k, hard heavy towing with a 21 built in November of 2020.

you're going to trade your truck in over a $10 wire?? 🤷🏻‍♂️

What weight were you towing and was it uphill?

How heavy is that trailer and do you tow it up any steep grades?

Have you gotten the burning plastic smell from the Massive wires yet?
I just read this post. Ironicly, my 2022 7.3 has 3000 miles , just noticed burnt rubber smell and have noticed it stubbles, hesitates and also surges. Noticed the smell after I got on it pretty good. Could I have a plug wires problem?

Sure sounds like a symptom of a burnt spark plug. Doesn't hurt to get it checked out
