seems like I hear a lot of negative stuff about the massive wires, and 5 star quit selling the fire core. Definitely would like to hear what you end up doing and if it works. mine will be here in a month or two hopefully with no issuesC is under $10 and B is $18.
I'm still trying to decide to go with b or c or let dealer try to jerk me around and their replacement calls for B, if they're able to have ford cover and swap them.
Supply and demand of B vs. C. Or B are made better? C looks better to me. But, with the offset would it be closer or further from headers and/or harder to snap in?
Thinking I'll bring it in and see what they say. Especially since I swapped the Massive wire back to stock A ones.
Have to get a couple new batteries that are leaking anyhow.
Good observation as I was thinking the same exact thing. I don't think it's a coincidence.I have re-read many of the threads and there is a trend. When someone had a code reader it seems cylinder 2 has more issues than the others. I wonder why? I have no answers. Just see the trend and figure it can't be random.
Has anyone installed the RV wires? LC3Z-12286-C is the part number.
So I just had this issue with the dealership putting the B part number in cylinder 2. I called them back and said that I want the C part number. They said ok and that it would be ready to go in 2 days once they swap it out. They didn't even attempt to fight me on it. I would for sure ask them about it if I were you.Definitely RPM/heat related. Plug wire shitting out trying to pass the voltage from coil to pkug. Only time I'm getting the flashing cel is while WOT getting the cob webs out. Had to clear it 2x after it stayed lit. I'm running the massive wires currently while trying to figure out if I should let dealer handle it or diy. They want to keep my truck a day or 2 and that's NOT happening. Last time I brought it there someone must have went for a joyride putting 30+ miles on it and didn't even fix my issues, one being a tire out if balance.
Rather NOT swap out massive wires for the bad stock A wires just to have them put the "B"wires if those are bad as well. It was enough pita swapping the 1 wire and after doing all 8 its REALLY NOT something I'm looking forward on doing again. Least not till it's really that "time" 60k, 100k???
Anyone know the best remedy. Go with the C wires or are B wires holding up?
Thanks and sorry for ranting. This just really sucks.
Try towing 10k+ up relatively steep incline for 30 minutes at 80+ degrees, after hauling it around town(100 degrees) most of day. Main culprit isn't just the wires or their design. It's the heat from manifolds. Ford should address that and get some thermal type coating on them.No issues with either.

Yes, had this problem!!! Ford warranty took care of it! It should be addressed!!!! I have a 2020 F350,, do a lot of towing,, invested in extra heat shield protected wires,, I keep as spare until Ford figures it out!!!Try towing 10k+ up relatively steep incline for 30 minutes at 80+ degrees, after hauling it around town(100 degrees) most of day. "ABOVE: The 7.3L uses a similar ignition setup to other well-known modern pushrod V8s – the GM LS engine series. But unlike those engines, we only see two wires going into the coil pack. This alludes to these not being the smart coils and having some of the capabilities of the other V8."
"ABOVE: We spotted these interesting-looking spark plug boot protectors. Those cast-iron exhaust manifolds look ripe for Heatshield Armor or Lava Wrap to be installed!"
Planning a road trip with the TH soon. So, decided to order a set of the C wires and pop them in. Since they're less than 1/2 price of the B. Will also find out more about coatings for manifolds soon.
"Extra heat shield"? Who/where did you get these wires? Or are you talking about some boot sleeves?Yes, had this problem!!! Ford warranty took care of it! It should be addressed!!!! Right on. Just did the swap from the "A" to "C". Haven't had to do any towing with it as of yet. How are they holding up so far? I know they haven't been fully tested out yet due to it being winter and such. I would have let dealer do it, if it wasn't for them wanting to keep it and bad experiences from last time they had it. Unfortunately, both my batteries are leaking (due to engine bay heat). So, I'll have no other choice but to bring it in one of these days.So I just had this issue with the dealership putting the B part number in cylinder 2. CORRECTAMUNDO!!! Everything I've also read and experienced personally was #2...My best guess is that it's designed to purposely be a fail point or something for whatever reasons and causes the stock wire to shit out and put in limp mode??? The massive wires didn't specify which cylinder though. They just gave random misfire codes instead.I have re-read many of the threads and there is a trend. Do you mind posting the part # for the C plug wires? I too have the dual batteries on my MY22 7.3 and wouldn't mind have an extra set of plug wires just in case for my road trip.Right on. Here's the tsb thread that contains pdf for the motorhomes and link for part dealer. Guess they're more important to Ford for repeat customers or something??? After all, it's the same engine and same problem for us SD owners.Do you mind posting the part # for the C plug wires? You can upgrade the wires to these if you want better quality:My 2021 Tremor (purchased Dec 2020) has 55,525miles. I live in the Arizona desert so no stranger to driving in hot environment. Started misfiring last week when towing a car on a flatbed trailer on the interstate at only 60mph. Have had no prior issues with this truck. Tow a travel trailer at times with no prior issues. Talked to my son in MT who is a mechanic. He and a buddy, also a mechanic, suggested a couple possible issues including the plug wires. Said Ford is aware of this issue and suggested upgraded wires. Took it to Ford. Turns out it was the wires. They tell me they don't have upgraded wires after I foolishly let them swap out the wires for their overpriced Ford product. Running fine now but for how long on these new, for lack of better terms stock, wires?
