2022 Sync 4 software update with full screen carplay/android auto

No, I am on iOS and you can definitely update apps on your own, just like an android.
Open the App Store, click on your pic on the top right scroll down and hit update all, also can just double check that fordpass is there.
Well shit, ya' learn something new every day. Thank you.

Unfortunately the FP app doesn't show in the list of "upcoming automatic updates" nor does it show as being recently updated. 🤷‍♂️

I checked the current App Store version of FordPass, and it's 4.23.2. I also checked the app on my phone and it's the same version, so I am current. Strange...

It is not a function of just the app. I have the latest Fordpass and do not have the DEF level either. Probably a combination of the the app and an update to the truck.

Has anyone that updated, experience this coming up?

From the little research I've done, it seems to be a fleet feature. Not sure how to disable it.

This probably belongs in it's own thread, unless it is directly related to the software update in the topic.

Did you do something to prompt that or has it been there since the truck was built and delivered?

Happened after I had updated

I didn't replace anything. Just updated the GWM, APIM and TCM

GMW was updated a week ago. The Driver ID prompt only started coming up after I had updated the APIM and TCM.

I’ve been reading through this a bit and maybe I’m just apprehensive to jump into this without a consolidated list of steps or a precisely lined out process, but I would be willing to pay (or offer all you can drink 😅) someone in the Houston, TX area to help me knock this out.

I’ve got a cable as well for doing the Forscan updates (that I haven’t done in the 6+ months I’ve had it) as well. Would really like to knock this out before leaving for my hunting trip end of next week and willing to travel to you and accommodate any timeframe that would work with said generous individual’s schedule!!

No takers in the Houston, TX area that could help me with this and some other Forscan updates??

I didn't have that change happen when I update the TCM, didn't have any APIM update so can't speak for that. You should be able to go in and reconfigure the module to remove the prompt. My license is expired so I can't check the exact process now.

I had a dealer service appt on 2/6 for first oil change and had them check and update any and all modules as I am having an issue of no seat heat on remote start until the PTS is pushed. Service tech report indicates that the GWM, APIM, HVAC, PCM, WACM and TCU modules were updated to latest firmware and configuration. Service tech was not able to test remote start and heated seat issue as the ambient air temp was too cold. I'll test that myself in the next couple days as temps will be below 32ºF.

When I picked up the rig today, full screen CarPlay has been activated and there is a new icon (double arrows) in the upper left corner of the CarPlay screen.

Based on what I've read that is the new "feature" rather than a bug, the claim is somewhere in 2022 Ford decided to stop heating the seats on remote start. If it was previously a problem why aren't the prior builds deactivated? If it wasn't a safety issue with those why would it be with the new trucks?

Please share where you have read that? Not disagreeing with you, and what you have stated very well could be the case.

On another forum (FTE) I started a thread on this issue and have been collecting data for MY22s and prior MYs, and some MY22s are reporting seat heat on RS and others, like myself, do not. It appears the high trim levels of MY22s are impacted. Ford's own Work Shop manual also describes when the heated/cooled seats will activate on a RS activation and I did not read anything that seems to suggest this is a safety issue and seat heat only engages when triggered by PTS/Key-on. If so, then why have specific RS menus items on IC menu for Climate Control=Auto or Last Used, and heated seat & wheel = Auto or Off. Makes no sense to me to have those RS menu settings then. Further my heated steering wheel does come on with a RS and prior to PTS/Key-on, so if this is a safety issue for seat heat, seems the same safety issue would apply to the heated steering wheel.

There is a member here on FT that responded to a thread about this, whereby he recently took his rig to dealer for service for this issue, and 4 Ford engineers looked at his rig for 2 days and determined that the HVAC module was not triggering/communicating with the heated seat module to turn on when RS. He was told that Ford engineering is aware of the issue and a "software" update will likely come in 2 months or so in the form of a TSB.

Was it you I was working with yesterday? if not heres the solution, stop all your connectivity features and then reconnect it will get rid of it. Look here if what im saying doesnt make sense.

It wasn't, but thanks for the tip. Funny thing is, I found that exact thread yesterday and figured it out.

Turns out "share driving data" under connectivity features turns on the Driver ID if it's enabled. Disabling takes care of the problem.

For some reason mine was enabled by default.

It’s been mentioned on here and some google searches. If there is a fix coming that’s great. My late 2022 lariat doesn’t warm the seats on remote start.

My platinum was built less than 2 months ago. The seat heaters are on upon remote starting every time

I got my truck back today for the deep sleep alerts and check engine light. The service manager said they couldn't do the updates to get the full screen BUT sure enough, I now have full screen Car Play now.
