2022 Sync 4 software update with full screen carplay/android auto

I think mine did that before the update. I have found a bug. If I hit the camera button such that i have front view on the left, and 360 on the right. There are two of my truck in the frame. One that is properly sized and centered, and then a second one that is stuck top right, and around 25% sized. le sigh.

I'll check when i head home today. I mostly listen to podcasts when driving, so if it was just defaulting to carplay it probably made me happy

Is anyone else's truck trying to switch to carplay audio every time it starts up regardless of the audio source on shutdown?

I've been listening to sirius mostly and each time my truck starts and connects carplay it tries to boot up spotify or something on my phone and I have to switch audio source back to sirius (or whatever). Kinda annoying.

Not sure if this started before the update or after, I do have the update.
This seems to be a ford issue, my sync 3 in my fusion acts this way too. its annoying as shit!

I don't have the update and mine does it.

But I thought saw a setting for it somewhere. Really just annoying with my audio books

Still no OTA update for me.
Got mine! Had mine in for service earlier this week and asked the dealer if they would check for it and download if it’s available. It was and they did. Mentioned it was 5gb+ and took them a while. A new button pops up in the top left corner with the two “expand screen” arrows pointing at opposite directions.
Note, they did have to reload my TCU which may have inhibited my OTA receipt.

But, it’s here and it’s pretty cool. Actually, almost looks too big!

Awesome. Still nothing for me, and my dealer couldn't get the tires I wanted so I'll just have to wait and see.

I have and Android phone (so I'm using Android Auto instead of Carplay), but I recall that one option available was whether or not to automatically start playing the Android Auto audio source upon connection. I was able to turn that option off and now when it connects to my phone, it doesn't automatically switch to playing something from my phone; it stays on whatever my last source was. I would suppose Carplay has a similar option? Might want to check that out on your phone?

The phone setting looks like if wireless is enabled it will start automatically but I don't know if that means it connects or starts playing.

kruschev that looks awesome! I am going in for service next week to address the rear shock clunking and would love them to do the update. What "specifically" did you ask for them to update so I can be very clear on what to request. Thanks!

I asked them to check for the big update that enables full screen, that's it. The service advisor said he didn't know what I was talking about. When I picked it up, he said he wasn't sure if it was the one I was looking for, but they did what they could. Turned out they did it right. Got really lucky I guess!

Gateway module
Are either of these available as OTA updates? I’d rather sit in the truck for an hour or two downloading it rather than explain it to the service department (at least my local one…).

I started a thread about something similar to this. My radio will be off as I am driving down the road and just as I least expect it...the radio will come on and scare the crap out of me. Others mentioned they had the same problem. No one knew why.

make sure you have automatic updates turned on. the gateway module update is going to come first. youll get a notification in fordpass that you got it. after that its a waiting game for the APIM update, when that will come who knows. all i know is you will not get the APIM until you have the GWM.

I’m curious… are there any confirmed APIM updates in the wild yet via cellular / Wi-Fi download or only via FDRS?

Edited: clarifying

It would be cool if we had a Mongoose Cable available to paid members that wanted to use FDRS to update their trucks. Require a $100 deposit or something that is refunded back when the cable is returned.

It would save people from having to drop $500 on a cable for a one time use sorta thing.

Just throwing out the idea
