I forget- were you looking to improve something vs stock with the Bils or justice to replace? Im curious how long these should last since I am more of a tame SD driver. Daily commute, semi- monthly towing and weather- dependent 4wd use here in the dirt road land.
In my experience, Ford pickup truck dampers are toast after 15,000 miles and probably sooner. Do they still "damp" beyond that? Yes, but... one should not be able to stroke a removed damper using their fingertips. That's "worn out" or "have leaked" or "was cheapass" to begin with...
Others here report nothing wrong with their factory Tremor dampers and have 80,000+ miles on them. They don't know what they're missing.
All that said, if you're being justifiably frugal and wise... wise w/ your money (but wise with your tire wear? We cannot say) then you may expect 30,000-40,000 miles of service from your Tremor factory shocks.
I wouldn't wait that long because I am a shock/damper amateur geek. I believe that dampers remain! the Black Art of suspension tuning. I know that Bilsteins are some of the best values in mass-produced shock absorbers/dampers in the entire world. I've used them before and for various applications. All have never let me down, although they can feel overly firm (but never harsh!) depending on general tuning and the weight of the specific truck.
As noted, these 5160s are just something to tide me over and my truck's suspension and handling dynamics are just that much better for it. One day I may have Carli-tuned KING or Blackcherry's 3" tubes on it! but for now I am satisfied with the results for my use case.
