Dude count me in! I’ll be in the Southwest in April for a few weeks lol, maybe we will be near by. I’m getting so anxious, just a few weeks now till the ST in on the truck!

We just upgraded to an F350 tremor to haul our Northstar Laredo SC. So far I've only hauled it from VT to NH with the tremor, but it was a much nicer ride compared to the 2015 Ram 2500 it replaced. The Ram did us good, but it was riding on Timbrens and beat the snot out of you on rough roads.

Looks like a beast! Care to share your mods, if any, to make it work? Sway Bar? Sumo’s, Timbrens, air bags? Or this this one being fully supported by the F350? Thanks!!

In the photo I had just Torklift upper stableloads installed. It handled great with 80 psi in the rear tires and a fully loaded camper. I didn't like the unloaded ride as the stableloads would smack the overloads on small bumps so I removed them. I replaced them with shorter polyurethane bump stops that don't make contact empty, but haven't tested out that setup with it loaded yet.

This is our 2022 F350 Tremor, 7.3 Godzilla, and a 2021 OEV Camp-X.
Tremor-Camp-x-OEV-4.jpeg

The Camp-X is mounted on an Alumatray with sideboxes. Has 360w of roof solar, a 270 Ah Battleborn LiFePO4 battery, Redarc manager 30, Xantrex 2000 watt inverter, ARB 73 qt fridge/freezer, 2 Maxxair fans, a Truma water heater/heater, and 20 gallons fresh water. The exterior has an Alucab 270 awning and molle panels on the rear.

Truck lighting is Baja Designs, including LP9s, LP4s, XL Linkable Light Bar, and Snake and Cow Lights. Truck lighting is controlled by 2 Garmin Powerswitches mounted in the passenger front tray box and linked to factory upfitter switches. The factory Ford batteries were replaced with two Full Throttle AGMs and backed up by the Cascadia VSS 120-watt hood solar panels.

The bumper is Expedition One with a Comeup 16.5K winch.
Roof Rack: Front Runner Slimline II.
Current wheels and tires: 17-inch Method 704-HD Bead Grip Matte Black wrapped in Yokohama Geolander AT-X 37x13.5 R17s.

It's like a $10,000/night traveling hotel room or a poor boy's Earth Roamer.

The Camp-X is mounted on an Alumatray with sideboxes. Damn!!!!! That is awesome!!!!! That’s an incredible build and very tastefully done.

I’m guessing deploying that 270 awning isn’t easy, gotta be 9 plus feet in the air lol.

Thanks for pointing this thread out to me Tramper. Looks like my kind of place on this Forum. I'm currently building the systems out in my flatbed Bison camper. First trip will be ~3 months in Baja & mainland Mexico leaving Feb. 1. I have a lot to do between now and then.
Moving from 17 years in a Sportsmobile 4x4 van to a flatbed truck camper. It's stressful as I am so comfortable traveling & 4 wheeling the van. The truck camper will be a very different beast.

I look forward to seeing what others are doing as I am thinking I'll have a minimal "Camper 2.0" for more intense 4x4 trips but want to see how the big camper does first.

Moving from 17 years in this:

Thanks! You are correct. Deploying the awing is a nightmare. Almost needs to be below the window. Still thinking about better options. We deleted the shower cube on account of it being too much of a mini skirt for my wife.

I found that to be the case when looking at those OEV campers. Almost like it doesn’t belong on there with the design. Besides that though gotta be one of the nicest campers on the market. The build quality and strength is incredible. I really am loving the truck camper/ with flatbed and boxes idea. So much storage.

So i see your screen name, Fuel Monger…. Since I also have a 7.3L Tremor with a camper only weeks away, what should I expect for MPG’s, both highway and secondary rds???? I’m curious.

We have ranged from 9.5 to just under 12. I think the combined average says 11.1 right now. I don't really lift my foot much nor do we under load it.

LOVE the setup!!! How do you like the Cascadia solar setup? Worth the price?

Thanks! I think so from a peace of mind standpoint, anyway. I haven't worked the truck's aux capacity too much when not driving, and I haven't been able to find any electrical output info in the onboard computer to monitor. The Garmin system tells me the voltage but that is about all. Been following your awesome rig for some time. Thanks for all the ideas!

How do you like the game changer? Fit ok? Does the manager 30 recognize 270 AH or do you have to set it at 300?

The game changer has been... a game changer. Used hair dryers, a Keurig, charged all our devices, tried to use it hard daily but have only ever got it down to around 65% available. Without trying to optimize camper placement, the two panels on the roof have kept up well. I haven't logged or calculated anything just, used it without regard. The Manager 30 does allow me to enter "270 ah" and seems to be tracking it accurately. It is a tight hole in the Camp-x's battery compartment, almost like it was designed for it. Had to fidget with tie-down straps to get the cam locks in a workable spot, trim the positive cover a bit, and size a small block of wood to prevent back-and-forth movement, but it fills the compartment so completely, I am not sure straps are needed. I replaced the original 100 AH Antigravity because after a few months it bricked. Antigravity warrantied it and was great to work with but it was going to take some time to get the new one. We ended up with a newer model for the difference in the list price. There was a 270 available and we were leaving on a trip so I bit the bullet. It seems to be the right solution for our mostly weekend and some week-long type camping. The self heater is a bonus.

I have two 100ah Renogy’s and was thinking about adding a third into the Nextdoor compartment. But this seems like. Much better solution, just 30ah less. Very nice!

There is a gent on Expedition Portal, Mister Smith that does a great job of detailing the install of the GC3.
