I started with a 2005 FWC Hawk, moved into a Sportsmobile EB50, then to a Lance 855s, an now back to a FWC Hawk. For me it's tough to beat the Tremor/Hawk combo.

What made you decide to move back to the FWC Hawk after the Lance?

What made you decide to move back to the FWC Hawk after the Lance?

The main reason for the move back to the FWC Hawk from the Lance 855s was size and weight. I'm generally not a campground camper and the Hawk lets me get to more places than I was able to with the Lance.

That makes sense, I've got two kids, my wife, and a dog so as much as I'd love to do a hawk, I feel like a lance would be better for the family. Sweet ride!

That’s ok. This thread will help you know all the additional money you’ll wanna spend after you get it lol. I ordered my truck and camper and March and am still waiting on the camper…. So i feel your pain. There was a time when i was scouring YouTube just to see what I was buying….

Pretty sure in the aftermarket front bumper thread there was someone that had Sumos on their 2023 that went to South Texas Outfitters in San Antonio for their bumper. Could be wrong, but I think it was a 2023.

Ha! I hope I spend ZERO money after getting it! The whole idea of both the tremor and the FWC is them being a turn-key solution for camping with my wife, 2 year old, and dog. I’ve spent entirely too much time and money building up past rigs.

I actually 100% agree and that was exactly my thought process for the Tremor and Supertramp!

But…. Then I added 37’s, fender flares, and I have a radio waiting to be installed, and a powered dash mount holder for all my electronics…. Then it’ll need ditch lights for the brackets I haven’t put on yet, then a front light bar…. It never ends!

You are right though, I wanted a vehicle that didn’t need a lift or anything suspension related and didn’t want to build out another complete camper…. But i do like to tinker!

Did you get one??????? I hunted Moose 2X in my life, 2011 and 2012 and killed one each year. I haven’t tempted fate with a third trip yet.

Lol then a full Carli suspension a front bumper for added clearance and protection, more lighting, more storage solutions………. The list never ends lol

Do you have the Lagun table, we were looking for shots from the inside of it to see how it was bolted on. Since you’re like the only person who has a Supertramp you get all the questions!

How well does that A/C work? I’ll be honest I really didn’t want to drop so much money on it…. In the end I just couldn’t imagine having my dream camper and saying damn I wish I had A/C….

I know you had to lose a tiny bit of storage to lower that camper but man was it worth it, looks better and better every time I see it!!!

AC: Honestly, I am an AC addict all my life. I hate being sweaty or sleeping hot. It is a must for me. I am disappointed about the AC in the Supertramp. It is probably less Supertramp, but more Dometic. Man, this thing is loud. It works, but it is loud. Like 1990's loud. You would think that in 2023 they have these things figured out and dialed in. 12v is great, but it is almost unusable at night. I am looking at other options, but it is Fall/Winter season, so probably won't make a move until Spring. I do not regret ordering it as I wanted them to do the wiring and upgrading the system, but it was not cheap and the result ... well ...

I have the Lagun table, but replaced it with a slightly larger one. I like it. On this trip I am experimenting with a homemade desk with foldable legs and did not bring the Lagun table. Needless to say, I will not bring the homemade desk anymore. Too cumbersome and complicated. I do have a 27" monitor with me and have it on the countertop. I use it as a standup desk and I think I know better now how to set up my work stuff. The Lagun table will play a role in it for sure (even though it cannot carry the monitor).

The window is great. I love it more every day. I sat here earlier - looking out the backdoor and the side window at the same time enjoying the scenery. I could retire to this view every day.

I am disappointed by Starlink. Worked great yesterday and I was confident as heck that this will be the solution going forward, but today it is just crap. Constant disconnects! F*ing Elon better get that fixed. I moved campsites for another reason, but discovered that I am getting a 5G signal here in this spot. Powered up the T-Mobile 5G Home internet and I am all connected. WeBoost will be installed next week, but I am getting 90 down and 9 up.

Solar. I do not have enough solar to cover my needs. Will have to do something about it. I work full-time from this camper with a large monitor and two laptops (work and personal). The max solar I was getting today was 205 and that is not enough to cover for the parts of the day when the sun is just not high enough. I'll have to decide tomorrow if I can stay another day or go home. Idling the truck for DC to DC charging is not slow and not enough. Can I high-idle the 7.3 Godzilla? Maybe that makes a difference.

I love the Supertramp. Every day out here and I am getting better at it. Better organized. Better routine. I know my use-case is quite different and that I am pushing limits probably, but it is all good. The last 3 days have been like a 2 week vacation.

Can you snap a photo of your Lagun mount from the inside of your front storage when you get a chance? Just the little plate mount that’s there to attach the table to but from the back side? Inside the storage compartment?

Is that the screen from Mauricio? How do you like that?

BUMMER the A/C is that loud…. Like big time they tout it as being super quiet…. Not cool.

I’m almost shocked your are having trouble with Starlink. My experiences with it have been flawless. Even in northern Newfoundland last summer well above latitudes that it is supposed to be working at it was flawless. Obviously you’re right it needs to be perfect to work from, can’t drop calls in the middle when that’s how you’re making a living. I hope that get worked out.

As far as power/ Solar that’s a tough one. ST uses Victron components which is awesome, but the solar charger they use is a 75/15 charger which maxes at 15A of charge and the DC/DC charger is the 30A version so max of 30A.. Your (and mine) battery bank is 400Ah that means if you pull it down half way to 200A you’re going to need 13 hours of sun to fill it back up, and maybe 7 driving…. I had spoken with Kelsey about a larger or second DC/DC changer installed that would cut that in half. They said it was a good idea but not something they could implement right now.

The only charging upgrade they did do was to the shore power plug. That’s 45A on the upgraded battery banks. So…. My plan for now is to carry my Honda 2200i generator that runs purely on propane 45A should be able to keep up with your power needs.

I realize running a generator isn’t a solution for you, as a long term/ full timer but your tiny amount of solar will never be able to keep up with the power it takes to run your work electronics. Perhaps you could carry a large goal zero and set out big portable panels to collect more power? It’s not a fault of ST but with only so much roof space you can only have so much power.

Idk what the solution is, either collect more power or use less of it, that’s all you can do. If you plan on moving daily the additional DC/DC charger will be your best bet but if you want to stay in one place for days at a time a generator may be your only option.

Either way I’m super interested in the direction you end up going with things. You’re pioneering this for all of us.
