Truck Campers Only, w/ an Overland & Off-roading theme

Trucks and Campers, they go together like PB&J, like Big Blocks and gas stations, like bacon and…. Well everything. But more specifically Truck Campers. My wife and I have ten’s of thousands of miles traveling the country and have seen and camped at some of the most amazing places. The common theme no matter where we camp Truck Campers love other Truck Campers. Big or small there always seems to be common ground and people that have them, have them for a reason.

While we definitely have a large and interesting thread dedicated to Tremors and Camping I’d love for this one to be Truck Camper specific. That way we can discuss suspensions, tires, air pressures and various other Truck Camper specific things within the confines of one thread all about Truck Campers.

I’d also like to open this up to everyone with a truck camper. From the simpliest AluCab Alu-Cabin to the biggest Host Mammoth with triple slides and everything in between. I’d also like to really encourage photos so others can see your setup’s and the beautiful places they have taken you.

Obviously this thread is going to be Tremor-centric but all are welcome (providing it’s a truck camper)

I have a travel trailer, so not my thread. Just wanted to comment on how I love truck campers, especially when I go camping and see them propped up on those spindly little legs. Seems like they are defying the laws of physics.

Since all Truck Campers are welcome here I won’t judge. BUT…. To me, you drive a truck camper to get off the beaten path and camp where others can’t. So I would consider anyone who keeps the legs attached slightly suspect… lol. But to each their own I guess. My truck campers past and future never had the ability to be removed at a campsite.

This was the one I’m thinking though I’m not going to order until I have the camper in the garage so I can verify fitment for storage.

I didn’t ask supertramp about that though I figured it’s a through bolted mount that I am sure I can do at least as well as they can lol…. I guess providing I can access the back side of that cabinet and it’s not double walled or something silly like that.

I am going to reach out and ask um what they think. I could use the extra desk space. I don't wanna do the through bolting myself so maybe they will work with me on just offering the mount and I can let you know about the conclusion of that discussion if you are interested and they let me share! lol

Not on the current Tremor but we tried two different flavors on our Power Wagon a few years back.

FWC Hawk with the Roll Over Couch layout. I loved it but it didn't have A/C and here in Texas that killed it for six or more months out of the year. I would love to have another FWC at some point in the future.

AT Overland Equipment Habitat. My wife loved this setup, the simplicity was undeniable and at the time it smoked everything else like it on the market in terms of build quality.

I am writing this from my Supertramp out in the Anza Borrego Desert. Starlink does the trick. Arrived on Sunday afternoon and I am testing out my remote work arrangements and setup. So far so good.

Method 305HD 18" with 37" Falken Wildpeak AT3 12.50

Man you really have that setup dialed in now! You’re right I can see the use of the low window!

Do you have the Lagun table, we were looking for shots from the inside of it to see how it was bolted on. Since you’re like the only person who has a Supertramp you get all the questions!

How well does that A/C work? I’ll be honest I really didn’t want to drop so much money on it…. In the end I just couldn’t imagine having my dream camper and saying damn I wish I had A/C….

I know you had to lose a tiny bit of storage to lower that camper but man was it worth it, looks better and better every time I see it!!!

They do, they just weren't very common prior to recent years and it left you with one less window at the rear. I couldn't justify another one without A/C.

Love Supertramp campers! I visited their factory about a year ago and was blown away by their quality and attention to detail. If I had gone slide in they would have been at the top of the list for sure!

Thanks for pointing this thread out to me Tramper. Looks like my kind of place on this Forum. I'm currently building the systems out in my flatbed Bison camper. First trip will be ~3 months in Baja & mainland Mexico leaving Feb. 1. I have a lot to do between now and then.
Moving from 17 years in a Sportsmobile 4x4 van to a flatbed truck camper. It's stressful as I am so comfortable traveling & 4 wheeling the van. The truck camper will be a very different beast.

I look forward to seeing what others are doing as I am thinking I'll have a minimal "Camper 2.0" for more intense 4x4 trips but want to see how the big camper does first.

Beautiful!!!! Both the vehicles! I love those Sportsmobiles and as I mentioned I can’t wait to see the Bison build! I’ve never seen one in person but they look really slick! How is the build quality? How does the roof lift. Manually? Or power?

Thanks Tramper. The roof is electric scissor lift. It was a long road with Bison and I didn't end up with what I originally ordered (a hard side camper). I think I'll be happy with it in the long run. The structure is solid (at least appears to be). Quality could be taken up a notch or two IMO. Happy to have an off-line dialogue if you'd like. On the flip side I can't say enough good things about working with Dustin at Vice Customs who did the cabinet design, build, install. He crushed it & will do custom work for any camper.

If interested, I used to do some blogging when I was traveling in the van if you want to see the type of travel I like to do and hope to continue in the truck. I've stopped doing blog posts for now but may transition the blog into truck travel again once I get going.
