@TRAMPER , I appreciate the kind works. I do in fact try not to be too salesy.. I myself have a ton to learn with these HD trucks and am very grateful for many on here that know more than I could ever learn. At the same time, there are a lot of offerings in the industry that take some time to trickle on to forums such as these, and I also want to share those stories. Brands like AFN, Triple R, etc.
I too prefer the setup that you mentioned, which is obvious if you look at my bumper in the previous photos. Down low, I am currently running Baja's SAE fogs in Amber, with Triple R's Linear Elite 24 Elite (27") . Everyone has their own style, but the big massive round lights up front are not my style. I try to keep it a bit more muted (though my roof rack contradicts this...) and I want to keep as much airflow to that V8 monster as I can. Especially for those that tow, haul heavy, or traverse dirt roads at low speeds, I think keeping the radiator open is a good idea to consider.
@TRAMPER let me know what location you're considering and I can see what I can do. I am motivated to get some custom brackets designed for these Fords so that we can get more of these out there.
Triple R (AKA Lazer) is huge on
vehicle specific fit kits. Generally, Baja is the quickest to get fog light kits out, and as it currently stands, I think their solutions for the fog pockets are probably the way to go for the stock super duty bumpers. However, Lazer is working on getting grille kits out for the Fords. The Chevy HD trucks are completed and the Fords should be next. This means that you can integrate large LED bars very cleanly into the grill. I added some images of the
new Raptor kit below for reference.
As far as harnesses go, I have never seen factory harnesses this nice (image below). Their have their own branded relays, with mesh sheathing, and high quality parts. Baja's used to look like this back in the day... I totally agree that BD's plug - n - play harnesses for fogs are probably the easiest out there
(I am using their fog kit for my SAE ambers) but as far as the upfitters go, you'll still need to crimp etc so I would say both brands are on par here. One really unique thing Im loving from Lazer/Triple R is the integration with factory highbeams. This is mainly a result of being a euro company, and most europeans (and seemingly australians) prefer to wire their aux lights to work with the highbeams to eliminate moving hands too far from the steering wheel. I myself am doing that with this build because it just makes sense.
The BIG deal is that the have a contactless CAN reader which means you can tap into vehicle's wiring to get the signal input for high beam without having to crimp into a factory wire.
Check out the Factory Tour here. If the lights are good enough for Subaru's rally team, Le Man cars, and more, I think theyll work well for us.
Finally, in the last photo I circled a tiny scratch in my Linear light bar. The damn thing is so sleek I didnt realize it was sitting on the front bumper (the place I left it after mocking it up the night before) and I can out into the shop in the morning, knocked it off the bumper and it slide across the shop floor a solid 6 feet. This was the only mark on the entire housing....
