Tremors and Tractors

Picked up the ‘48 cub yesterday! She’d been sitting in an old industrial building near my work, and I guess the family wanted to sell is as the owner was nearing the end of life. They randomly asked me, and for 3K I said - what the heck - sure. Lol

It’s been restored at one point and after I give it a bath I imagine it will look pretty good. A few minor things I need to do to it, but so far it seems like everything works! I put a new battery in it and filled the tank with ethanol free fuel - and she was off and running!

It has all the paperwork dating back to 1948, manuals, spare parts, etc. It also came with a ton (probably accurate weight wise too) of attachments - not sure what they all are yet, but it has a sickle bar, disk harrow, cultivators, front blade, rear angle plows, and more.

I was shocked how well the hydraulics work and driving this seems easier than my 6 year olds power wheels atv.

This will have the primary job of dragging the horse arena - but I may try some of the old school implements - they are right out of a horror show! Will absolutely do a 4th of July parade! Maybe I’ll put the deer food plot in this year with it.

I can imagine! Originally it was on a farm in Thetford, Vermont. Pretty cool it’s never left the state.

Thank you, sir! This is how I know I’m getting older. Lol. Getting excited for a little red tractor was unexpected!

I gave it to my wife for her birthday (January), and she was out of her mind excited from the photos.

I never really wanted her to drag the arena wiry my other tractor due to its size. You have to always be aware of where the front and rear as you’re near the fence - this little cub will be much easier to manage. 🤠

Good for you! I was hoping you’d pull the trigger on that! Lights work, good tires, lots of implements, I think you scored. Can’t wait to see it after it’s cleaned up. There’s a good Farmall Cub Forum too, where you can learn all about these great little tractors. People are nuts for them.
The wife and I love to take our antique tractors for evening cruises, local backroads and the local cemetery. People love it, always have a friendly wave, and if you stop they’ll always have a story about the family tractor. Good stuff.

I have it in the garage now, so maybe a nice hot water bath will happen today! 🤓🤠

You’re right about the cubs. Must be something about them - people love them. I did - and I’m not sure why. Lol

I’m going to replace these tires with new ones. Looks like some cracking on the rears.

Installing a 16’ wide farm gate this weekend. Drilled one hole and got a post set this afternoon. Didn’t get as deep as I wanted to. Hit rock and rock like clay. Plan evolved to a cantilever on the hinge side. I’ll drop another 6” post 40” deep (or so) and run 1x6 slats between them to match the fence on the property. The idea passed the wife test. 🤪

This is just one of the coolest machines in the world. I think I had a diecast toy of this Farmall when I was a wee lad in the early 1960s...

A huge! congratulations on it's acquistion. What a neat thing. And for the wife!
