Recently got back from a camping trip out west, Tetons and Yellowstone for two weeks. Including lots of driving in the park, which you get great gas milage doing 40-45 mph (distance to empty was 562 for a 7.3 with stock tank), but ended up with over 4400 miles and the lie-o-meter said I got 10 mpg. Found some nice side roads and Curtis Canyon which just happens be our last name.
I’m sure that trip was awesome! Glad you made it out and back safely. And I agree, you have to get pics of those places that match your name. When we did our west trip, I had to get a pic of Williams, Arizona Route 66. lol

Yep, good eye. I use the tireminder i10. Second season with it and like the peace of mind it provides.
Just got set up and settled in on one of our favorite parks on one of our favorite spots.
This is a USAC campground on the Black Warrior River. This campground is just above the lock the USAC operates letting the barge traffic navigate up and down the river.
Tremor performed like a champ on the 2 hr trip down.
If you want any of the handful of river front lots you have to reserve 6 months in advance when the "order banks" open. Better 1/2 was on it back in Jan.
These sites are large, well built and well kept. All we have to do to level up is front to back. Every spot has a damn near level concrete pad. 50 AMP service, water and sewer.
It's been a typical July down south and it's been raining pretty much every day. The river is not at full pool but higher than normal. One cool thing to watch is the egrets that ride the logs down the river fishing along the way.
Hope to have a few tugs with barges go by over the weekend.

We made the 5 hour trip north
Totally forgot to add my new camper to this thread. Not exactly the standard setup for this group, but it fits our needs perfectly.

We just got back from a busy 7 day trip totaling 1820 miles to Redwood National Park and Lassen Volcanic National Park in northern California. Lassen was good for Burney Falls and some of the geothermal features, but I highly recommend seeing the coastal redwoods if you ever get the chance. It was mid 60s as the high and mid 50s as the low. Our first three days there we hiked just under 29 miles. You can have an entire beach to yourself, kayak and swim in the clearest river in the US south of Alaska, and hike in the mountains feeling like you're in Jurassic Park. Oh and you get to drive your truck though a tree. My wife thought I was crazy for being most excited for that.

Last summer we did the California coast as far north as Patricks Point, and it was epic. The inland temps along the Avenue of Giants topped triple digits though and it put a damper on some of our hiking. I’ve been admiring the weather forecast there this year and you definitely hit the jackpot.
I didn’t attempt driving through a tree but the one we went to was a different one and it definitely didn’t look like we would fit.
To anyone that loves camping and nature this is definitely a bucket list trip!
What are they hauling on those barges?
Everything from crushed limestone from north AL to fuel and chemicals from the Gulf Coast. There is a lot of metallurgical coal as well from central AL to the Thyssen Krupp steel mill in Mobile.
I'm not up on my hazcom training but the covered barges are all have placards.
