It deals with membership in the Airstream Club International. Members are assigned a number, that they can choose to put on their trailer, that can help identify owners … there is a super technical name for them, ready? Big Red Numbers (BRN). It goes back to the beginning days of Airstream caravans, and before cell phones, and helping to locate a particular rig in a sea of similar looking ones. And it still does help.

When you join you are able to request up to 3 different numbers .. ours, 21813 is the date we picked our trailer up 8/13/2021. Others we tried were variations of our physical address at the time.

Numbers travel with the owners, so if we were to sell this trailer and get a different Airstream we would remove the BRN from this one and put new ones on the new trailer. As you could imagine after being on for a while the stickers leave their mark and the outlines can still be seen on the metal .. aka ghost numbers. It can become a way to research previous owners.

You don’t have to join the club, but it is a fun way to meet people and stay up on current events and info. There are local chapters that plan events, rallies and caravans plus the annual International rally. Members can also elect to allow courtesy parking on their property for other club members and there are a few campgrounds owned by local clubs that offer some pretty significant discounts for other club members.

Ans some members put their numbers on, some don’t. There are plenty of people who will put them on a piece of plexiglass or similar so they can display them when at an event without doing anything more permanent. When we joined we figured, what the hell, and put them on.

Thanks I see airstreams all the time and was wondering what those numbers where. A person nearby me has an airstream and there’s always some random truck pulling and airstream parked behind his home near a shed, it’s always a different truck and camper. I bet he lets people passing by with airstreams stay there over night. Pretty cool!

Could be part of the harvest hosts networks, they provide overnight passing through boondocking

True… but they are only airstreams. I’ve heard of harvesthosts, if I had a camper I would definitely join that site.

Harvest Host has been great, and for the price it’s hard to beat as long as you use it a few times a year. We paid $139 for a joint Harvest Host/Boonedockers Welcome membership.

Our last stop was in Tillamook, OR at the Blue Heron Cheese Company. Great stop and we’ve still got some of the cheese we are working off.
 
Pretty close to pulling the trigger on HH/Boondockers Welcome. Lots of good reviews. We generally avoid RV parks.

We travel on weekends since the wife is working from the rig during the week and it’s been a great way for us to get a place to stay between our stops if we are traveling more than a day. Just check the area you are going to be using it those most, there are certain spots that are pretty barren.
 
Added some dual purpose gear to the supply:

1) InDeflate. Useful for switching between towing and non- towing tire pressure among other things.

2) SafeJack. I was looking at upgrades over the OEM jack and when I realized they don't provide a jack with the TT I pulled the trigger on this one.

Sorry. The RockBlokz are super. Stiff, easy to install, and good customer service. They seemed a bit large at first but they protect the side of my truck and trailer from rocks flying off those Duratracs! I highly recommend them.
