For those considering Cirrus, Lance etc.... don't count out the Northern Lites. We love ours - VERY well built and insulated. We had a 2013 Camp Lite 6.8 for several years, which was great, but a little primitive compared to the Northern Lite.View attachment 14777

Not to bombard you with questions (I see someone else has one too), but what is a good wet weight on a NL 8-11 like that?

Like Northern Lite, as well as their cousin Bigfoot, but the Bigfoot's are much heavier for some reason, at least what I've seen.

Had always planned on a Cirrus 820 - the design and materials are innovative - but I love the concept of the fiberglass two piece design.

Have you done any suspension mods to the Tremor for the Northern Lite TC?

Yes, we went with the Torklift lower Stableloads and the Airlift 5000 wireless airbag system. Works good - MOST of our miles on the Tremor have been with this camper onboard and pulling either a SXS or Yamaha Jet boat. No complaints. Considered a sway bar, but don't think we need it after about 12K miles with this combination.

There are some, and I respect those opinions, who don't like/approve of airbags. I can only speak to the fact they've worked for two rigs of ours (Ram 2500/Camplite and now Tremor/NL).

On the first rig we tried many things before we ended up with the airbags. Timbrens, four varieties of shocks (Bilstein 5200s worked the best, Rancho 9000XLs worked but where very harsh at the higher settings), Hellwig Big Wig swaybar (which did work), tires (which again had some positive effect).

In summary, the current setup works well (Sumo's in front, Lower Stableloads & Airbags in the rear).

Our weight sticker (supposedly NL weighs each one on it's way out the door), is 2710. Add a couple AGM batteries, couple 20lbs propane bottles, Honda 2000w generator, water etc etc. it adds up for sure. Don't want to hear from the "weight police" that are ever-present on the camper forums. If were independently wealthy...... I'd have bought an Earthroamer!!! This is our "poor man's Earthroamer LOL!

Love the 850. We wanted the Java interior and some other options so drove to Salt Lake City to get it. Only thing I don’t love is the step situation but will be fixing it.
Added Torklift Stableloads and it drives really well. I am adding a stock rear sway bar and then done. I really wanted to stay under Ford’s recommendation of 3300 pounds for loaded slide in camper. Camper will end up more like 3700 loaded, full of water. I also did a full separate charge plug with 4ga wire and a bluetooth shunt so I can watch voltage/current on it; should be able to fully charge the camper’s 2 batteries in a few hours. Have about a week’s worth of camping in it so far and it is really well done. Few teething issues, but nothing big. Jcamper

Thanks. I had ordered Java on the 825 but the 850 has royal. Beggars can‘t be choosers. Glad for any tips you can share. This is my first truck camper and first full size pickup.

Anyone running a tent on top of their bed? We are running Yakima cross bars for our bikes but my son is begging for his own roof top / bed top tent to camp when we are in the trailer. Just wanted to see if anyone here had any opinions / thoughts...

There are a bunch of options and different price ranges out there. I'm looking for one as well for multiple uses (from hunting in Oct in CO to Going to MOAB and riding the bikes). I'ld say the biggest decision points I have hit so far are:

-Price (huge range)
-Use
-Hard Top or Not
-Size
-Annex or not?

Now I have dogs, am 6'4", and plan on using it on sub freezing temps for hunting.

So far I am liking:

CVT Hybrid
Guana Equipment Wanaka
Ikamper X-Cover with Annex (#1 for me right now)

I have been in other CVTs and Tepui and liked them.

Go with the hardtop IKamper. By far the best rtt. Plenty of room, and warm due to the hardtop. Yes it’s more expensive, but you get what you pay for and they hold the value for resale.

I’ve camped at the bottom of the Grand Canyon to the base of Denali at Wonder Lake.

Quickly flipping open my RTT last year in Moab was awesome except for the 90+ degree nights. Much prefer the RTT.

Have a couple pet snakes, they haven’t gotten us yet.

I fitted mine up with a Hallmark Expedition pop-up to be able to get back into some tight spots. There have been a couple times last year I am glad had the rear locker and limited slip up front.

I have a 2007 Hallmark that I hope will fit on my Tremor. The Tremor is so much taller I am hoping I can get it high enough to get the truck under it. Any issues with that? One of my hunting buddies puts concrete block under the jacks to raise it up high enough. TIA ???
