Well, heres hoping. Ive bought in 4 of 4 releases, so maybe that'll send me up the list lol. I dont get online as much as i used to, work keeps getting in the way.You may find that is not the case!
Im inA few of you have asked whether we'd ever go after the really rare stuff — the bottles that run $200 to $600 and come from stocks old enough to vote. The answer is yes, and it now has a name.
I'd originally kicked around calling it The Platinum Edition, partly because Ford doesn't offer the Tremor package on the Limited trim and partly because I liked the idea of mirroring how Four Roses does their annual Limited Edition. Then @mattagc suggested The Pheasant Edition — "they're the ones smart enough to spend the money on the good stuff." For anyone who hasn't run across it, "pheasant" is forum shorthand for someone who couldn't spring for the fancier trim. So naming our most expensive whiskey program after being whiskey poor was too good to pass up. Sold.
Why we get access
Tim at The Whiskey Blendery has been a genuine supporter of what we're building here. He works with several groups that buy barrels six to eight times a year, but he likes that we're getting Blendery whiskey into hands all over the country rather than just around DFW / OK. So he's extending us something special: a heads-up on the rare, highly limited releases before they hit the floor.
How it works
When Tim has something that falls into the ultra-premium category, he'll give me advance notice. I'll then survey the group to find out who's interested and how many bottles each person wants. That response is a soft commitment to purchase — these releases often sell out in minutes, so there isn't room for anyone to sit on the fence. I'll generally need answers within 48 hours.
To be very clear: there is no expectation that you buy anything. You only commit when you tell me you want a specific release, and that's purely so Tim knows how many bottles to set aside for us. Sit out ten in a row and jump in on the eleventh — that's how this is designed to work.
All of this will be handled by PM rather than in the open thread. Two reasons: it makes sure the alert actually gets your attention when the clock is ticking, and it keeps Tim out of an awkward spot with customers who don't have the access we're being offered. I'd ask everyone to be mindful of that second one.
What "ultra-premium" actually means
Sometime in October we're expecting a 22-year American Light Whiskey. Further out, a 35-year-old Single Malt Scotch. These aren't casual pours. They're for folks who understand what they're getting at that price and are excited about the chance to try something that genuinely doesn't come around often.
As with our other releases, bottles are purchased directly from The Blendery — I'm just handling logistics. Shipping is additional for anyone who needs it.
What I need from you
If you want to be on the list, reply to this thread and I'll add you. Being on the list costs you nothing and obligates you to nothing; it just means you'll get the PM when something lands.
Cheers,
Michael

I’m the only one with the original Pheasant release anyway…. Thanks @DTX2023Tremor![]()
What language is that label in?

Sounds like a great pour!A while back I posted about the Pheasant Edition, our tongue-in-cheek name for the ultra-premium end of the Tremor whiskey program. The first release is now on its way to members’ hands, and I wanted to share with everyone what it turned out to be.
Tremor Reserve: Pheasant Edition Vol. 1: 22-Year American Light Whiskey | 145 Proof | 23 Bottles Total
Yes, twenty-three bottles. That’s the entire release.
A little background
American light whiskey is a category most bourbon drinkers have never deliberately sought out. It’s distilled at a much higher proof than bourbon and aged in used oak, so it picks up wood slowly. That means it can sit for decades without getting over-oaked. Penelope brought the category back into the conversation over the last few years with their 13, 15, and 17-year releases. Ours is five years older than the oldest of those.
How it came together
I tasted through five 22-year barrels at The Whiskey Blendery. Two stood out. One had the classic light whiskey profile, with Corn Pops sweetness and a short finish. The other went somewhere different, turning into caramel macchiato mid-palate and finishing like caramel corn.
Then we started blending. After trying 50/50 and 75/25 in both directions, one of the 75/25 blends beat both single barrels. So that’s what we bottled, a two-barrel blend made for our group and nobody else.
The most surprising part is that at 145 proof, it doesn’t drink like 145 proof. Twenty-two years tamed it completely.
Official tasting notes from the Blendery
Nose: Very rich. Toffee, granulated sugar, and vanilla so concentrated it reads like extract, with sweet coffee just behind. Underneath are oak, leather, and tobacco, with hints of butterscotch and toasted marshmallow.Palate: Round and viscous. It opens like a caramel latte with whipped cream and caramel drizzle, then turns buttery with butterscotch, soft vanilla, and cream soda with a dusting of cinnamon sugar.Finish: Long, rich, and mature. The age shows in the oak, maple, leather, tobacco, and espresso, while toasted marshmallow, cinnamon sugar, and butterscotch candy keep the tannins in balance.
One tip from me: give it 20 to 30 minutes in the glass before you drink it. It opens up a lot with air.
Want in on future releases?
Pheasant Edition offers go to members who support the core Tremor Reserve program. Tremor Reserve is what makes this access possible in the first place, so it’s the way in. When the next Reserve release opens, jump in on that one and let me know you’re interested in the Pheasant list too. Keep in mind that bottles in this series will typically run between $200 - $600 each (plus tax and shipping).
Congrats to those who landed one of these. More to come.
Cheers
