Gotta say muscle cars are cool in their own way, but I'm less about going straight as I am about cornering. I love a car that can corner, so much fun going around a turn at double the speed limit, if you can. That's not to say I don't like larger engines, just means the car has to be lighter. Seems like everything is getting bigger and heavier though so only European cars can really do that well and even those are getting more and more bloated.

I like a smaller hatchback type car for whatever reason, that seems to be my type. They just never come with anything larger than an inline six or v6...

Let’s not forget that these “straight line” muscle cars like the Cuda, Mustang and Camaro all competed in Trans Am racing, not only stop light to stop light stuff (although I love that too!). If we’re all getting together to celebrate car culture, I’m as happy as a clam and anyone is welcome to join me in my weekend drives.

The mustang gt350 and gt500 are track cars. There not the 350's and 500's of old. They do more than go straight now.

I actually started caring about cars because of my uncle but only after in high school, he's now around 72 and grew up during that era. He used to race at a local drag in a candy red Chevelle with a 454 big block back when I was around high school age. I'd never heard a vehicle sound like that, deafening and with just headers and sound just blasted my body when I stood near it holding my fingers in my ears. He also had a Buick 442 that I got to ride in before it got torn apart and never finished and I'd never felt torque like that before. I was hooked and since then I've loved cars and come to appreciate multiple aspects from handling, cornering, braking, torque, etc. The closest thing I had to anything muscle was a 1999 Viper RT10. Driving that car required something akin to preparing for an event; crappy AC, relatively sketchy brakes, no abs, no traction control. What a blast it was though!

Hah, I used to take my now wife on cruises with it. Too bad it's gone; was fun while it lasted.

1979 Rabbit 5-speed 1.5L diesel

0-60 in like 30 seconds

I had one just like it - maybe 80 something - could not get out of its own way. Anybody have a problem with that and get on my ass I would just diesel dust them!

Thanks. That is a tuff one. Bought both new and up until a month or so ago I would have said hands down the 350. The RS is now on E30 at just over 400WHP and it is definitely a blast to 4 wheel slide thru the corners now but the 350 is really in a league of its own and a very impressive car to drive !! I do chuckle the most when driving the wife's trackhawk crazy what that 5500lb suv can do!!!
