Milwaukee M18 18V Cordless Tire Inflator 2848

You guy's keep spending my money:) I've been using the M12 for years and it has worked great, but I just couldn't pass the M18 at that price with 2 batteries.

Thanks for the heads up on this. I’ve been wanting one and just pulled the trigger. Heckofa price. Big sale on lots of Milwaukee stuff actually.
If you go in and there's a Milwaukee truck outside, just hang around until you see the guy/gal and tell them which tool you want. Most of the time theyll give you an extra 5ah battery for free 👍

Can they get a tire up to 55-60 psi?

Stock Tremor tire from 30 to 70 PSI. 8min 20s. Battery (5Ah) indicator at 3 of 4 bars.
I will say that is a long time to air 40# but it is portable after all. I imagine with an 8ah, it would gain a couple minutes?

I recently tested on inflating Duratracs from 0 to 65psi, 5 tires on oem rims. Took 7-8 minutes each it drained my 6ah dewalt battery at end of 2nd tire. I moved on to the next 8ah battery after that, drained on 5th tire, moved to 5ah and finished all 5. I have many dewalt batteries so going through them wasn’t an issue. I love this inflator, rock solid, i have no need for on board air and having this is just what i needed.
That is impressive to say the least, especially going from totally deflated to a highly inflated tire. It sure is pumping a lot juice.
The Milwaukee portable is the best battery/car compressor I've used. That includes its DeWalt competitor, some yellow pistol grip cigar lighter one that might be a Stanley or something and a 20 year old China cig lighter plug in no name called "Truck Air". I have never used an on-board like ARB or Viair.

I like it so much that I just bought a second one like a few others seem to be doing. See the post #23 near the top of page 2 of this thread for the Project Farm inflator test;
https://www.fordtremor.com/threads/milwakee-m18-18v-cordless-tire-inflator-2848.17500/post-360685

I'm now a mixed household between Yellow and Red, buying what seems best between the two for any given tool that I decide I need or if replacing so the extra M18 batteries are part of the attraction. I also have battery adapters to go in both directions which is handy.
I still have not pulled the trigger - I wouldn't carry it on my rig. I would perhaps find a use for it at home although I have a few powered air compressors already.

The sale price is ridiculous -- spending money some times does solve anxiety.

That was a little longer than I expected, but good enough for occasional or emergency use. I don't expect the 8Ah would go any faster, it would just pump up more tires on a charge.

That’s actually longer than my own test. As i said above, i was able to go from 0 (because tpms were removed) to 65psi in under 8 minutes on all 5 Duratracs with 6ah and 8an Dewalt batteries via an adapter. My 6ah was drained after two tires, but it kept the timing under 8.

As dumb as this sounds, it could be due to the Dewalt branding.

I have both (Dewalt & Milwakee) and there are times where I feel Dewalk just as a leading edge.

You would think 5ah is 5ah, regardless but Dewalt at times, simply feels stronger. Other times, Milwakee seems to top that list. Perhaps its subjective?

I would have guessed Dewalt to lead the competition agaisnt Milwakee in every aspect but folks here have attested that there is no competition in the compressor department between the two; Milwakee won that battle.

It is also important to note the age of batteries. They do get weak with time, ambient temperature can be huge factor, and in your case the adaptive concept of its use (although you did get more despite using an adapter).

I also use an adapter to run an off-brand hammer drill and I just can't seem to get the same juice compared to a direct attachment.

I run the Milwaukee 12ah and I swear it is a good bit stronger using the same implements. Drills, impacts, etc. Not sure if it fits in the compressor though 🤷
But, it's a $200+ battery

I also notice the same thing when running higher Ah batteries. I feel as if though it fully unlocks it's full potential.

While we're on the subject of Milwakee products; has anyone used or does anyone have these milwakee power inverter adaptors?

There are several kind:

or the multiple outlet one:

I wonder how effective these are? How much can you really get out of them?

I can certainly use either one of these for their practicality.

Yes, I use the top one and it works quite well. I've ran a TV with it at times and even a large party speaker for 4 hours with a larger battery. I'll also second @Blade420Play above... if you run into the Milwaukee Rep they will typically give you a discount or a free battery. Tell them you have Makita and its too expensive to swap over and they will hook you up fat haha.

Another angle to cover, getting a carrying bag for the inflator and batteries.

Amazon sells a few specific ones made for the inflator, they’re not bad, but at that price point i figured why not get a slighter larger bag that will hold other tire related items i need in the truck. So i ended getting a dewalt one. It stays in the diamondback bin under the cover. In the summer i cover it with a towel to keep the contents cooler.

Thanks for the heads up @Alpoba! I Just ordered my second m18 compressor. I’ve had the m12 in my work van for a few years now and it works great but a lot slower than the m18. I’ve been using the m18 for around the house and on camping trips and liked it so much I keep it in my van now too so this second one will be for around the house/camping again. I’m biased to Milwaukee but there m12 line of hand tools is hard to beat. I’ve switched a lot of my m18 line of drills, hacksaws and lights to the m12 for the lighter weight and size.

I’ve used the top one as well several times for tailgating and it works great.

This is beautiful.

What type of work do you do?

I guess you're either red or you're yellow.

I'm having a hard time choosing between the two.

Own my own business repairing and installing commercial kitchen equipment in nursing homes and hospitals. My Dad started the business in 1990 and I took over for him in 2020. I own all red but that’s partly bc my dads been all red for about 20 years too.
