High Pressure Fuel Pump (CP4) *OFFICIALLY* Dead

I would get my truck back before I started firing off demand letters. Might not make a difference, but I wouldn't give them the chance to let it.

As an older middle-aged man, I will tell any younger gentlemen that having a relationship with a lawyer who will write letters and take on smaller (yeah, I know, $20K, but as lawsuits go, it's small) matters like this makes life a whole lot easier sometimes. I'm suing a deadbeat who stiffed my business for $1,700 right now and it's basically costing me nothing because I have used and timely paid the same attorney for years. If you don't have one, find one and treat them right. It's helpful to have one that answers the phone when you call.

We get a few of these a year and boy would I love to lay the hammer down on them.

Just last week, I was bossed around like her employee by one of our clients, after months and months of being overly pushy and demanding. Upon completion of scope of work, she did not pay her last bill; well she paid partial of it - the reimburseables only. She gave herself a discount; mind you she's an enterprenuer.

We are members of a law firm for protection but everytime we seek consultation, it seems we're in for more for their fee's than what we're actually getting back.
Law practice has never made any sense to me because it's not about the obvious but how you can get get away from something or use it to your advantage by finding the weep holes.

I would love to find someone that can take care of us and we'll take care of them.

Sorry to hear about this @bbrett. I know what its like to have the truck gone for months. Hang in there brother.

DPK group buy in the air????????????
I can try to make this happen but I need some commitments first.

I'm in if we can get something done...

Insurance doesn’t cover mechanical issues per State Farm. You maybe right on efforts but have a family friend who is willing to look at the case. My pockets aren’t deep I work hard for my money. 🫡
At any point, has the fuel been tested for water? Water in diesel fuel is one of the main causes for CP4 failure. If you can prove fuel contamination, then you do have a case with insurance. But other than that, you're correct, most mechanical issues are not covered under warranty.

Just another avenue to pursue. Best of luck with the rest of the process.

That's a good angle. I would have an easier time sticking it to State Farm vs Ford. I doubt the shop tested it for water but I can see what they can provide to State Farm there's pictures and documentation. Not sure if submitting after the repair was done will be acceptable vs opening a claim before the repair was started. I have 3 service orders from ford dealer stating they wouldn't cover due to the CAI.

Didn't Dodge recall all their trucks with the CP4 like 5 years ago and go back to the CP3?
Don't keep up with too much as I have a 7.3
I see Ford is still being Ford with their head in the sand.
F250 is a decent truck but Ford Service arrogance almost pushes me to another brand.
I guess I could go a Chevy with LS8, oh wait....maybe a Tundra, oh wait....their in lies the problem...they all have been turning out shit product for the last 5-8 years.
I went gas to avoid the CP4 hassle and my tranny shit the bed at 60k.
These days it's not if you will have a problem its when and how big a jar lube you gonna need to get back on the road.

To me this is one reason I sold my 2022 and went to an older truck, easier to work on and possibly slightly better build quality. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I’m more than happy I made the switch.

Does anyone see how a CAI has any correlation to a CP4 failure?

I have been told by many in the aftermarket to remind the dealers etc of the Magnusson Moss Warranty Act, linked here.

" According to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act: a vehicle manufacturer cannot void the warranty of your vehicle due to an aftermarket part unless they can prove that the aftermarket part was the cause of or contributed to the failure of the vehicle..."

Cannot see in the slightest how a CAI would affect the CP4 failure. I believe you are being strung along by a service department that doesn’t even understand the basic science of your engine.

Post #86 above states he has 3 service orders denying claim. Don’t know if thats means 3 separate dealerships??
He never mentioned more than one dealer service department that I recall.

2 requirements of next vechile are an ashtray and wing glass in the front doors.

So how many Ford dealers did OP go to? How many made the same rejection?

Only went to one dealership thats 5 miles from my house. next closest was 45 miles away. Took it to this dealership 2-3 times and got charged a diagnostic fee for when I originally brought it in for it running weird and getting CEL codes for injector on cylinder4. They were telling me it's the MAF getting dirty and wrong readings from my CAI. They said they can't help, and proceeded to charge me a diagnostic fee. I removed my CAI brought it back in they said there's notes in the system about my CAI causing the issue and turned me away. A few days later is when my truck completely shut down with the CP4 failure. I called them and they said nothing would be covered under warranty, so I didn't wasted my time towing it in and wasting money on tow so I Brought it to a local shop that specializes in ford diesels, thats when they said there was zero pressure coming form the CP4, but weren't equipped to do the repair so I had to towed to a diesel performance shop to have them do another diagnostic and repair.

Got her back and drives like brand new.
That should read: better than brand new.

First thoughts on the pump? Any noticeable difference?

The difference with my swap was very noticeable but I also went full piping kit at the same time so you can certainly feel all the guts.
