Full Screen CarPlay is here for Sync4 in my SD!

I rented his cable. He is very easy to deal with and helpful during the up grade

Anyone have the list of all the different versions since I haven’t had a single update since picking the truck up in 2022 I want to print it out and show it to the dealer to make sure it all gets done. If it fails this time I’m done with them and going to use Mongoose cable through @F450_on_44s

610 is the most widely available latest update. Some are getting 9xx versions, but have verified for myself in FDRS that my truck doesn't have that update available yet. FDRS doesn't identify updates, so lists and names wont do you any good.

Be sure to tell them to do all updates on the Gateway Module as well. Most dealers are too incompetent to know the dependency between the 2. They'll see a pending GWM update but no APIM update and proceed to tell you the APIM is up to date. :cautious: I was stuck on 134 until I bought a cable and did it myself after 2 unsuccessful attempts to get my dealer to do it..

Interesting. I’m on 6xx myself and was about to buy a cable so I could get to 9xx.

I didn’t realize you might not be able to update even with Mongoose/FDRS.

You can 100% update to revision 934 if you have FDRS, but there is a GWM update and TCU module update you need to do first, then it will show up in the list of updates. When I rent out the mongoose cable we typically run all updates available for each vehicle, which can be up to 12 updates depending on the truck and options. Most of the other updates for things like the door or wireless modules only take a few minutes.

@F450_on_44s I’m very interested in renting your cable and doing all of the updates on a 2022 F350 Platinum truck we recently bought. I’ve read through the majority of this thread and a couple of other full screen CarPlay related threads, and it seems like this is what I need short of going rounds with a dealership? The truck currently has SYNC 4 version 21136 Rev 134, and doesn’t show that it needs any updates. We’ve checked via SYNC itself, FordPass app, and online via the VIN.

Forscan shows the DTC after I make the changes to the APIM module. I can't clear the DTC unless I revert to my as-built format.

I haven't tried resetting the APIM module as it wasn't really clear whether I need to or not.
Are you saying that resetting the module will usually clear the DTC?...that's not too intuitive as DTCs typically need to be cleared independently.

Reading up on the DTC, it can occur due to electrical issues such as bad ground/connections. I have not been driving the truck much since we got a second vehicle, and my Sync display shows the "system off to save battery" warning almost every time I get in the truck. I'm wondering if the issue is low voltage and I need to get the batteries charged back up.

im gonna make a guess here, but I think you have a bad battery. My truck has to sit for 2 weeks before I see the message youre seeing.

I’ll PM you and we will get this sorted out.

Might be a Canadian thing. I updated about a month ago to 610 (Mongoose) and after a scan there was no GWM or APIM to update.

Anyone get an update recently that didn’t do anything?? I’m still on 610, and it has no details on the FordPass app or the truck itself.

Anyone with Revision 934 and unreal engine have this issue with the message in front of full screen? I can’t remember if it was like this before. How can I fix this?

Thought I would take a min and post about my effort to get my system updated along with my brothers. Neither his dealer nor mine would update our trucks as they said they were both fully up to date. My truck was on a more recent version and had full screen car play - My brothers did not. My dealer updated my truck to full screen sync version 610 a while ago so I knew they had the ability. I asked them to update my truck to sync version 934 as I absolutely hated the stupid truck icon in the upper right corner of the forward 360 camera. They claimed FDRS told them my truck was up to date and their system was broken and would not communicate with Ford. My brothers dealer just threw their hands up and said he was up to date but he was still on the original sync version with no full screen. Oh and BTW neither of us would ever get OTAs. Even though Ford could see our trucks could communicate with the Ford system. Oh and if you did not know or forgot...in order for OTAs to even work you have to have driven your vehicle for at least 15-30 min prior to update, parked your vehicle in a place it can access wifi (NOT cell service in the truck), the parking break must be set and your lights turned off. YES this is ASININE and most do not know it and it is not in the manual that I can fine.

Thanks to @ZooDad and his mongoose cable I updated my 22 f250 and brothers 22 f350 this weekend to sync version 934. No more stupid truck icon in the upper right corner of the 360 forward camera. Took forever, I now know why Ford service techs dont want to do this. They do not get paid to sit and baby sit this stupid process. As a software engineer this process aggravated the hell out me. So when your service place says they can’t do it or your up to date it is because; 1. They really have no clue because the process is so convoluted and frustrating. 2. The techs do not know how to properly use FDRS (because it is such a stupid system). 3. They do not get paid by Ford to do these updates. 4. The downloads and writing out to USB take way to long. 5. They cannot log into FDRS as that system was developed in 1969 (tongue in cheek) by the mentally challenged (not trying to offend anyone with these challenges).

I agree we spend enough money on these vehicles that they should be fixed by Ford without us having to exhort to our own devices. But there is no incentive for Ford or any other manufacture to do so. Most (80%) don’t care, don’t know about this stuff.

if you want the least amount of stress reach out to ZooDad or myself and we can walk you through it. Just be aware it is a slow and frustrating process. You will need a mongoose cable and a 2 day license for FDRS and a USB device. @ZooDad has made this as simple as it is going to get but you still get to deal with the broken system.

Have some whiskey it helps.

@DriftwoodTremor, similar story here as well. I opened case with Ford OTA, who confirmed my rig never received any OTA update. Fortunately, my dealer was able to update my rig to 934 over two appointments and they had my rig for 2 days each time. In my opinion, Ford really messed this OTA update process big time. Whether or not my rig receives the next OTA update, I'm not holding my breath. I will reach out directly to @ZooDad for his mongoose cable and do the update myself when the time comes. As a side note, ZooDad was a tremendous resource with my MCS install that Ford deleted from my rig and he is an extremely knowledgeable about all things SD related, and specifically FORScan.

Same for me too. Still at rev 610. Its not moved past to the 934 with a OTA update. Anyone know what this update is?
I’m guessing that is a second gwm update. It is required before you can update to sync revision 934.

Thanks! I “think” I got it worked out.

My 7D0-02-02 was originally XXX2 beginning and I changed it to XXX3 which removed the message. Not sure what else it impacted. Do I need to make this a “7”?

Here is a video for a F-150 I found. Skip to 5:44 for the info.

7 is what I used and should be correct.
