📢 DEAL FordTremor.com May 2024 Group Buy! 🏗️

If it is still possible, please sign me up for the roof rack.
Thank you!

Per our conversation a roof rack.

Got any pictures of the front showing the wind deflector and the cab lights. Looks like your is behind the lights but not full width, is that because of the light or the way it comes.

@gmoon Just want to be sure I didn't miss a "next step". Can we expect to be contacted if we signed up? Thank you!

Ha--the timing worked because of my pure dumb luck! I just happened to login and see the previous post. Thanks for your coordination on this.

Bump

Asked a couple of days ago for a picture of how the wind deflect and the cab lights look, deflector just looked short but no luck.

Thanks for this reminder! Let me go out to the truck and get some photos for you.

Its been getting some upgrades done off site so I havent been next to it.

Standby!

When I was picking a roof rack, there were two choices/philosophies for the wind deflectors. Some try to be more aero, and channel the wind over, and others just aim to disrupt the wind going under the rack so that it doesn't set up a resonant vibration - this one is the latter, and works well in that respect.

@mrmag00 here are some more photos of the fairlead. You can see I have mine as far forward as it can go.

Note: The camera angle is a bit strange, making it look like the fairlead is close to coming in contact with the marker light. In fact it is nowhere near.

Thanks for the pics, was curious about the outboard 2 lights but it stops short.

Hey yall!

Thanks again to everyone that participated. Product is starting to ship out today. I will be making a quick intall tips n tricks video for everyone here so they have an idea of what to expect. I would recommend ordering a small tube of black RTV silicone or a tube of Sika 221 (black) from amazon now to aid in the reinstallation of the OEM roof molding.

Here are some links for you guys:

Sorry for the crappy photo, so we have to remove the roof molding and the rear has a rivet. Has anyone that has a rack or has taken the trim off can you get access to the six bolt if you remove the trim from the front towards the back just enough to bolt the brackets on and trim the molding and not break the molding at the rivet in the rear.

The rear molding will break in the future regardless as it’s a design flaw, so can put a vertical slot in it around the rivet hole, and then use RTV. I preemptively RTV’d mine from the factory.

Knew someone here would have the answer, thanks Bronc0h

I don't think you can go from the front since the trim slots into a tab there and you need probably ½" of slack to get it off. What you can do however is work the trim back onto the rivet at the rear using a pick and a little patience. That plus a some silicone sealant should keep it in place. FYI, if you want to reinstall the moulding, you'll have to trim it around the rack supports, which isn't too difficult.

Something they don't mention in the instructions is that there's a bead of painted-over glue/sealant under the moulding that presents a few problems. First is that the sealant covers the existing bolts and washers, which makes it a little difficult to remove them. Each bolt is fastened to a blind nut which I found out isn't all that well attached, and since the washers and bolts are glued/sealed/painted down, you can easily pop that nut off the back when trying to undo the bolt. So once you've gotten the bolt a little loose, try to pry the washer loose and then keep some tension on it as you unscrew the bolt until it breaks completely free. Hope that makes sense. I lost one of the nuts on mine before I learned to be careful, and then didn't have anything to screw the new bolt into, so I'm one short.

And the second issue is that the sealant doesn't give a solid, flat base for the mounts to sit. So I cut out the sealant under each mount so that they had a nice flat surface sit on. Then I added a new bead of silicone under and around each mount, and of course at each bolt and washer, before bolting them in place. I also sealed around the moulding at each mount after I reinstalled it, mainly just to keep gunk from getting into the gaps there.
