I was under the impression that we can run the diesel trucks even without the cap and not get a CEL, so not sure if the CEL you got is related. I'll be curious to see what code you have.

Will the caps for the 22 model fit the newer models 23 through 26?

As a follow up to my previous post, I am curious about the fit because I have a set from the 22 MY and they seem to fit perfectly on the 26. I’m trying to figure out if there’s a mechanical reason I should not use them on the 26. Does anybody know or have any insight into it? I know they were listed separately on the Tank Warden website for the different model years.

Same question here since I have the same thing - but I already moved mine from my 2022 to the 2026. I assume the difference was the mounting hanger. There was a change in the design of the fuel door, I believe. But I’ll leave it up to the others here who know more than I do to answer.

Yeah, I noticed the hanger change between the two designs. I’m assuming yours has been working with no issues while running the vehicle.

Been busy away from the forum transitioning over to FoMoCo.

There's an internal passageway that allows the tank to be at ambient pressure. If any unsintered Nylon blocks this passage, this could allow a buildup of vacuum. This passage can be opened up with a 3/32" drill (depth 29mm from the outside) until you feel the resistance of the drill break through. Normally the passage is obscured through the zip-tie cross hole, which is only used for shipping purposes. Use compressed air to blow anything free.

I was getting quite a bit of vacuum release when removing the DEF Warden. I made and 3D printed this little jig to keep the hole straight. Thought I'd share.

I transferred these fuel and DEF caps from my 2022 to my 2026. Within the 4k miles I was having DEF issues. Turns out that the DEF cap doesn't reliably vent. The DEF tank was crushed because of the vacuum it created. $2200 and not covered by warranty. Beware of using these.

That happen to mine tooo cost me about $500 all said and done. Caps went cheap to start with. Not sure who's making them now but we should be reimbursed for the damage!!! Mine was cheaper because I did it all myself. Still not happy.

Oh wow. Horrible results. Try to do something nice and it only causes more issues. Hate when that happens!

Did you drill the vent hole into your cap that was suggested in this thread, or is it unmodified? Can you visibly see the damaged DEF tank, or is it based upon how much fluid you’re able (or not able) to put into it?

I don’t know anything about a modification and I never received anything from the manufacturer suggesting that needed to be done. I took the truck into the dealer assuming that I was having some warranty work done. They are the ones that discovered the problem.

I was only asking because I did the same thing where I transferred it from a 2022 to a 2026. In this thread, much earlier, there was a lot of discussion about the cap not venting correctly because the hole or the pathway was blocked with the debris so the solution was to drill a hole dead center all the way through. I can see the DEF tank enclosure, but I’m assuming the tank that can collapse is on the inside of it.

I wish that I would have followed this thread . If this is an identified problem and has been for awhile, I would expect the manufacturer/vendor would notify their customers. Since that vendor is on this thread, he obviously knows. I wonder how many thousands of dollars this problem has created.

New vs collaped tank I changed it myself. Luckily I was having a lift kit put in the guy noticed. I open the cap it had LOTS of vacuum. Luckily I wasn't on a long trip.
