Current gas prices ⛽

It’s only around 200 gallons there and back.

Southern Ca to just north of Cedar City, 500 miles. <--- where my trailer lives

From there to Moab, 270 miles

Double the above and throw in 200 miles of shenanigans for good measure = +/- 1,750 miles / 10 MPG = 175 gallons at an average of $5.50 (CA + NV + UT) = $962.50 Ok, I'll earmark $1000 for fuel.

I hear soulezoo and Omaha Bravo between them are spending that on BACON. :ROFLMAO:

(just kidding - but they will be bringing much!) 🥓 🏁

Wait fee added? I thought I was saying .40-.50 cents per gallon
They have some transaction fee or some such thing. It’s per fill up. So for example if you get 20 gallons and the fee is 40 cents, that’s really an extra 2 cents per gallon.

I figure I'd use about 340 gallons of gas on this roadtrip for me (heading to Los Angeles after Moab), so at an estimated average cost of $5.50/gal, that will be about $1,900 in fuel alone.

I figure 10mpg when towing the trailer, actually get 10.3mpg towing, and the 200 gallons doesn’t include the trail runs. Thank goodness they put truck stop every couple of hundred miles. Time to upgrade to a bigger tank. Hey I just keep telling her it’s the kid inheritance why should we care.

So in your example you pay like 6.30 per gallon?
Yup. Exactly!
If I’m not towing there are typically cheaper options nearby. The Sheetz card gets 3 cents off their posted price. Sometimes you go a mile off the exit and there is a name brand station that is 10 cents less than those next to the interstate. I’m way OCD and plan fuel stops. But that gives me a chance to check prices.
Towing…. Truck lanes only. I’ll end up in prison if I have to drag 60 feet into a BP station and wait for purple hair Karen to come out and move they/them Prius away from the diesel pump they/ them parked at to go in and grab a bag of trail mix.

The worst part of it is that it's at least 2 credit card transactions. In August when I went to the KTP tour, I stopped at Costco to get gas and a very impatient lady behind me yelled out her car window asking me how much longer I'd be when she saw me go for transaction #2. Even at the $175 limit, I still had a ways to go before I filled the tank. Assuming gas doesn't go above $7 per gallon, I should be able to keep within 2 transactions. That said, I normally get gas at Sam's Clubs, so I'll likely need to go into a third transaction when I refuel as their limit is $150 per transaction.

I only fuel at Exxon/Mobil and with their card you get 0.10 off per gallon and you get points to use for even more discounts.

Sam's club that I get gas at is currently at $3.57 a gallon while Exxon (and many other brands) around me are $3.69 - $3.79 a gallon for regular. Local Costco is $3.65 a gallon for regular. Fortunately the Sam's Club is very convenient. If I needed diesel, the price around me is $5.79 - $5.89/gallon. It's crazy to see diesel at $2 a gallon more than regular and over $1.60 per gallon more than premium gas at Sam's and $1.30 more per gallon over premium at neighborhood stations.

There was a lady on the opposite side of the diesel pump at my local casino. I was talking to her about her 24 F350 King Ranch when she said the pump cut her off at $300. Of course she said that it has a Transfer Flow tank. One of these days I’ll have one too.
