Another point regarding Poughkeepsie is that unless it changed last year or this year, there is a bypass that will take you around "the wall" which is the toughest obstacle on the trail. It is also a two-way trail, so you can back out if you like.
It's also not a bad way to spend a few hours to ride up to the wall with a cooler of beer and hang out and watch different people work the obstacle in different ways. There are several lines people will try. Some will winch it, some will stack rocks. Kind of fun if you like to meet people and check out other peoples rigs.
