I hate watching bad football and there was A LOT of bad football in Athens yesterday.

Matt Austin stated that the heavy contact ("grabbing the arm" and playing the receiver rather than the ball) warranted a flag, and that he "would've supported a DPI".

Also, Terry McAulay pointed out that replays showed 0:01 left on the clock when the pass hit the ground, meaning the replay booth should have reviewed the time and potentially granted Notre Dame one final play.

Mike Pereira called the time-keeping and review failure "embarrassing for all officiating," noting that it was a clear operational error rather than a subjective judgment call.

And last but not least: The Big 12 Conference acknowledged in a post-game statement that time remained on the clock when the pass fell incomplete and announced a review of the end-of-game officiating process.

I think PI and offensive holding on pass plays should be eliminated. Both are a mystery. Get rid of both and the poor judgement of the refs isn’t as big a factor.
