You are hilarious! Nobody said anything about NEEDING a CB! We are talking about uses for CB’s. Truck drivers use CB’s every single day for many different reasons, so do may different types of professions! You just read some trucking forums on Facebook and formed an opinion. You have no facts or references for your statements!

Very few semi trucks use CBs every single day.
Wanna talk about off road clubs who now do not allow CBs? It’s old technology and rarely used even like 10 years ago.

Oversize drivers and pilots overwhelming use CB for communication. UHF for the oversize industry is mostly used by companies that have their own in how pilot vehicles. Also very common with Canadians. I've used Canadian pilots a few times and they would usually give me one of their hand held UHF radios because it has better range than CB.

4 trucks and 12 pilots on this project at the same time. All 16 vehicles using CB. Mine is the one on the right that doesn't match the rest.

A lot of drivers including me don't just ride around with the CB on any more but most owner operators and smaller companies absolutely still have and use them. It's the big fleets that don't have them as well as the foreign drivers that can't speak English very good anyways.

I've been escorted by local and state police with some bigger loads and the cops who do those escort jobs also tend to have CB.

That’s nice. I have CTCSS on my CB. It allows me to eliminate anyone else on channel except those I wish to chat with. So I can travel through cities and enjoy not listening to the idiots you refer to. Then, when I wish to com with trucks and pilots, I can. Maybe you should try using CTCSS on your CB.

Can you bend it a touch inward and then back outward to clear the fender better? I have a set of ditch lights that over time came in contact with the fender like that.

You could but just rotating it would be easier. The back has a lot of space and the front is just close. Bending it may also make it so you would need to trim the plastic/rubber piece.

I agree that here in the states, CB is rarely used. But to the point, this mount, or virtually any “CB” antenna mount can usually also work for a GMRS or VHF and UHF radio antenna. I personally have a quad band ham radio and a 2-meter ham in my rig. The quad band is programmed with the CB station frequencies (set to 5 watts output per limit) just in case I am traveling/offroading with individuals using CB. But agree, GMRS and HAM are becoming much more of the norm. Or 800mhz trunking systems.

I have a K40 4ft antenna in a stake pocket mount. One of the benefits of placing it here is the cable can run down through the mount pocket and then follow the frame up to the driver's side floor where there is a rubber grommet that you can make a small hole in and then route the cable up into the cab.

That's exactly what I have, and exactly where I put my CB antenna. Works out pretty good. My GMRS is up on the 3rd brake light mount from Bullet Proof Diesel, that also works well.

Yes 110% I agree it can’t work for anything. I use them for lighted whips at times.
I really dig the third brake light one posted. I’m gonna order that up

Depending on the area CB isn't that bad since there's less "driver's" using that band. GMRS is almost a dumpster fire. GMRS is nice with repeaters stretching the reach of a 50w radio. People are on GMRS swapping info, as well as just talking about their crops, who's driving where, what are you bringing to the BBQ......

Talking to one GMRS guy in my area getting a repeater setup from new equipment is a $7k investment, that can be cut down by buying used equipment.

Back to CB stuff: Buy a decent radio, get the cables, get the mount (I like my Larsen), get an antenna. Enjoy!!

I forgot to give this little tidbit, but when you don't want to have your antenna on the mount, these fit perfectly over the mount to keep them clean and dry. Log trucks use them on a daily basis. So do all commercial vehicles on active logging roads. Sure, there are probably limited amounts of log trucks and logging roads in downtown phoenix. There are shitloads of both where I live.

When you want to talk about the 99% not using them we will entertain the less than .05% of logging trucks using them. with 13 million Semis on the road, i might be generous with the .05%

EDIE - I just did the math. the BLS says there are 52000 people in the logging sector. This includes EVERYONE not just the trucks. Thats .004% of the total trucks on the road. Your argument is worse than I thought HAHAHAHA

I use my CB whenever I'm on the freeway, there are LOTS of commercial drivers still using CBs. I get traffic info, like accidents, road closures, etc. There's still so many using CB, that I turn the squelch up to where I only hear those really close, otherwise, it's non-stop "ratchet-jawing" - just saying. I have set my FRS/GMRS to "scan", and I've only found 2 or 3 drivers using it. However, I've found a lot of road construction crews use FRS/GMRS to communicate between themselves. Real handy to hear them saying when they're going to open up your direction of traffic= time to start the truck & get ready to go!
