I placed an order with BMC lights a couple of weeks ago and I ordered the Baja S2 Pro lights for the side step. This bracket looks like it would be real helpful. @CaseyJ should I PM you to get a price? Also my son who is a mechanical engineer has a 3D printer, I don't know if you would want to share that or not. I understand the intellectual property, and your time being worth something etc.

Some members (including me) have added lights to the sidestep pockets of 2023+ Super Duty trucks, which is an ideal location for a compact, outward-facing light. A flush-mount light works best to avoid interfering with step functionality.

The challenge is that most flush-mount lights do not swivel, causing the light to aim downward rather than outward. The Baja S2 and S1 flush-mount lights are perfect for this location, but the shape of the step pocket forces them to point down.

To solve this, I had a design idea for a 3D‑printed bracket and @CaseyJ brought it to life with the help of @OmahaBravo — This new mount allows these lights to face straight out, maximizing light output. Some before-and-after photos are below, I will post a few more later to show the difference in light throw.

This looks like a nice little adaptor. For those of you using it, do you ever catch your toes on it or kick it when using the step? Seems like a potential downside of it sticking out like that.

I have a camper shell, so I don’t use the step. However, it seems tucked in there enough for the functionality to not be effected.

I have had a decent amount of orders on these and also people asking for modifications! I’m about ready to release a 45° angle S1 mount(could also make the S2 style if wanted) for the back of the step to get light out the side to function as a ditch light of sorts. Approximate location, but with nearly double the angle of the original mount.

I’m also working on a template for mocking up and cutting the holes that I’ll be including in the future.

Very close on the final design. Had to cut the backside of the 45at a compound angle because it interfered with the back angle.

I’ve made adjustments to the mount and backer plate for the S1-45° mount and it’s ready for production. I’ll be sending it out to the person who helped me develop. Next is to develop a jig for mounting to ensure the cutting and drilling of the holes is in the right place.
Also happy to report I got the initial bumper step mount done, just a couple changes to get it where I want it. It’s too close to the edge and would slightly hang over the outside. I also believe the S1 is angled too much outward. This one was a lot harder as the step pocket isn’t a simple curve or even two curves, it has multiple flat spots, and radii as well as curving from top to bottom.


As always, I’d appreciate any feedback or other ideas.
