7.3 Godzilla reliability

My understanding, based on the research I've done and what several publications have posted, the 2026 7.3 was redesigned with different internals to mitigate the issues of the past 7.3. The way it was redesigned allows for superior oil flow to the parts that most need it along with a few other changes that are said to increase reliability dramatically. Only time will tell and we all know it still won't be "perfect" as nothing made today is. I am hopeful that the changes made to the 2026 7.3 motors will be significant enough that this will no longer be an area of concern...like the tranny valve body

One thing for sure, this 7.3 with the 4.30 gears is torque’y as hell. It doesn’t have the brute strength of the diesel but it’s far from a slouch. Man it drinks a lot of fuel though, but I like it.

I know my oil pressure gauge doesn’t move at all. Ever.

^ ^ ^ the gauge is digital, and the pressure signal is intercepted by the truck's PCM. I suspect that electronic signal is heavily damped, like our fuel level readouts.

I have the impression that since late '24, if not earlier, Ford has mitigated the engine idle low oil pressure software* problem -and- the engine no longer suffers from the bad run of lack of proper lifters' heat treatment. The two issues combined have damaged the reputation of an otherwise superb workhorse, and this before any 2026 upgrades.

Also, there are plenty of Godzilla Super Duty trucks in service today that have never had engine issues.

*that any engine designed for work should be fitted with a software-controlled variable-output/pressure oil pump is ridiculous, but there it is anyway.

I will let mine idle a bit later today and see if it drops. But I can tell you it sits at half every single second it’s running.

I am transferring my two Banks iDash gauges from my Chevy to my F250 so I should see instantaneous readings on several fronts that will give me great visibility to what's going on.

i just put a autometer oil pressure gauge in when I did the whipple. It jumps all over the place. If they put a gauge that moved the service department would be flooded with calls and trucks over this.

Where have you seen that changes were made to the '26 7.3?

I want to put a whipple on this one. That was my whole intent of buying the 7.3L

Are you happy with it????

Do you like lighting up 4 37's on dry pavement?

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!!! Don't do it. Lol. Yes I am happy.
I am a bit slow today but that sounds like it’s awesome???? I have a Mach1 I just did headers and borla on and the entire Steeda catalog suspension wise with intent to follow with a blower as well. About to have that one done and then was planning to do the Godzilla next after I put a few miles on it. Assuming my warranty is gone afterwards so I wanted to at least get 3-5k and an oil change done fist. Was planning American racing headers, Borla ATAK and a whipple on it.

One of many out there.

That channel is AI slop from what I've seen. I wouldn't trust it.

I remember some discussions about software and possibly hardware changes made a couple years ago to help mitigate lifter issues, but I can't find any credible sources claiming there have been any changes to the 7.3 on the '25s or '26s.

If you have it installed at a dealer you retain the warranty.

I guess my question now is can the 10R100 in the 26’ 7.3L handle the torque????
Well, somewhere on here someone noted from a Ford technical explanation that the transmission naming convention follows (# of gears)R(Max Input Torque Rating in 10's of Ft LBS)... so 10R100 = 10 speed with 100x10 (ie. 1000) ftlbs input torque rating. So it should do just fine w/ the Godzilla putting out less than half of that.

Also worth noting, the gear ratios are slightly different and usually Ford also updates the programming of their "-G" transmissions to work better with the power band/delivery of the gasser.
