2023 MY Super Duty Order/Schedule/Build dates from Ford...

Orders in Oct the day it went live and still unscheduled. F350 SRW lariat ultimate tremor. No max recline, no bed liner, no trailer cam. Tried eliminating all constraints.

This is a crappy ordering process. Hopefully being last in line at least helps ford get some quail out control issues fixed. My F150 just turned over 200K and needs a lot of work that I don’t want to put into it.

Why is it so hard to spend $80k?

Sounds odd that you wouldn't be scheduled yet. I would be all over my dealer if I was in your situation, maybe it has something to do with their allocations or the codes they used. Something seems off here...

I would agree - I honestly figured I had a % of a % chance getting scheduled due to asking for every restraint item, but I and others who ordered when things opened are scheduled / built.

Ford would rather do low-margin builds rather than high-margin builds. They can build them faster and at a more consistent quality level than higher trims / more complex packages. Lets say they make 200K trucks, the total profit on the 175K XL/XLT/Lariat builds will make a bigger impact on their financials than those who order Lariat Ultimate or above will contribute. I imagine if the CFO had their way, they would fill their entire production run with fleet orders to maximize volume and, as a result, profit. So while I'd like to think my platinum build is important because it is ridiculously expensive, to Ford, the profit I would bring is a drop in their bucket.

Here's to another disappointing Thursday? 🤷🍻

When I went in to order my truck. I asked them what the highest trim level I could order that had the highest probability of being built this year. They told me to stick with a Lariat with the 7.3 or lower and told me a few options to stay away from. I ordered the moon roof, the ultimate package, spray in bedliner and front and rear wheel well liners anyways and my truck is in production. It seems like they are building all the Lariats and below while randomly throwing a few higher trim levels in the mix for good measure. It almost seems completely random like they're literally pulling builds out of a lottery system. I haven't seen a single 2023 model above a Lariat yet. Hope everyone waiting gets some good news this week.

What are the options delaying builds? I want to add them to my order!

I placed an order for a 23 with the hope it doesnt get built and i get an incentive for a 24. Not even sure I want a 24 since it wont be much different. I really like my 22.
For those of you that really want or need a truck, you should try reverse psychology. Hope that your truck doesn't get built.

Previously I said I didn't want the truck, only the 24 incentive, and last week my 23 order gets scheduled for production. Not only that, I get bumped up a week from the scheduling email. My 22 took 8 months from order to delivery. This time, it could show up in 3 months. 3/20 order date. Dealer had me at a 19 priority with a lot of orders in front of mine. With what I hoped were options that would delay like HO motor, Tremor, moonroof, bedliner, 5th wheel prep.

It makes no sense why my order got picked up. I wish I could give my spot to some of you guys.

I've seen a couple of people on Facebook post that their platinum order got picked up. Have only seen one King Ranch (that a guy at KTP posted a photo of when they started Job 2) and no Limiteds.

What is confusing to me is that if the Max Recline seats are a constraint, why are so many Lariat Ultimates with this option being built? All of the things that are supposed constraints for KR and above are items that we're seeing with some frequency in Lariat builds.

Another thing to consider is many of the higher trim trucks are only a single purchase maybe every 3 to 5 years with a small percentage of yearly repeat purchase. Where the big fleet customers could be hundres to thousands of trucks every year. From a Ford business standpoint don’t think they would want to loose the larger continual business. Be curious to see what the margins are on a XL vs a Platinum.

Great point... my thought is that from a marketing perspective, they would want to have enough high-end trims out on the road to get people thinking about a new truck to see one and think they'd like to purchase one. To your point though (not to totally contradict myself), fleet buyers could care less about those things.

I do wonder how much the process for getting a Super Duty for retail buyers has turned them away from buying other Ford vehicles. We're seeing posts of people now looking at the GMC AT4/ Chevy Bison... would those people be less likely to by a Ford for their other vehicle needs as well?

I ordered my F250 Lariat from Grangers on 11/01/2022. It was scheduled for the week of 05/05/2023, and was built yesterday, 05/09/2023. I honestly didn't expect it this soon. I have the spray-in bedliner, wheel well liners, and 5th wheel prep package. At least I should be able to use the $2,000 PCO before it expires July 5th, so that's good news.

I know from a fleet side the inability to get trucks ordered has my company starting to source from other manufacturers. The fleet guys have been canceling orders and purchasing from dealer stock. What used to be predominantly Ford fleet for the heavier class (Superduty) vehicles is growing in GM products that are more readily available. The inability to deliver would sway me from a personal standpoint as well if I was in the market for a new truck. I’m waiting on a new Explorer work rig and don’t expect to see it until Christmas at the soonest and given the choice would consider a different manufacturer to get the vehicle sooner.

Here’s to hoping that everyone gets their orders much sooner than expected.

Based on what Long McArthur said on his schedule notes for this week...if you have the 7.3... pray. He said exhausted availability for the 7.3! Granted, he said it was only for this week but I'd be shocked if it's not longer than that.

My dealer has only had 2 Lariats delivered and the rest are not scheduled. I’m guessing their allocation is causing the issue. It’s a good dealership, the larger one in Grand Rapids absolutely sucks at customer service so I wasn’t going to think about ordering from them.

Wow that was fast! Ordered on march 1st and as of yesterday my truck is built and awaiting shipment. I think I might have it by the first week of June if not sooner.

Wow! Lucky! What specs?

F-350 with the 7.3L, Lariat Ultimate with spray in bedliner, panoramic moon roof, wheel well liners, snow plow prep, FX4... I screwed up when I ordered it and forgot to include the 5th wheel prep package so I'll have to do that on my own since we're planning on purchasing a 5th wheel in a few years.

Where in Maine are you?

I am in Central Maine. Ordered at Quirk in Augusta.

Im not trying to be a cry baby about my truck taking forever, it is just an issue of wanting to trade in my Raptor before I have to put $1,500 in tires on it....

I'm down in York County, ordered from Arundel Ford. I am in a little bit of as bind as well. I was expecting my truck by the end of summer/early fall. I backed into a tree with my trade in plowing this winter and the earliest Moody's could get me in to fix the tailgate and replace the rear bumper was May 8th. They're swamped and haven't touched my truck yet so now I'm worried my new truck will arrive at the dealer and my trade in will still be sitting at the repair shop. Which options did you order?

Looks like the summary of Today's scheduling is mostly Job 1 stuff, and a few higher spec Lariats, but no KR or above.

I was talking to my dealer and they said if they get one more "poverty package" F-150 or Super Duty, they are going to pull their hair out. They have more XLs, XLTs and low-spec Lariats than they know what to do with, but haven't seen a KR, Platinum, or Limited in almost a year.
