What are these things called watches that you speak of? Haven't had one since the cell phone was invented. It's kinda like those library things. With the Internet, are there still even books?

I actually had a bag phone in 94.
I sold my DEEPSEA because I stopped diving below 12,000 ft. It bothered my ears.Started going down this rabbit hole about 2 years ago. Got the Tudor pelagos first which is still my daily. When I picked that up, I put my name on the waitlist for the James Cameron deep sea and got the call in September of last year that it arrived!

You and me both, Brother. I have never got into Rolex though. Bought a Sea Dweller a few years ago (no date) and sold it after a few months to a friend. The brand does not resonate with me. I do love me some UN. Back to the old Marine Divers, Caliber 160, San Marco, etc. Modern UN is not my cup of tea. After Rolf's passing, and Ludwig moving on, the Dream Team glory days ended. They did create some magnificent pieces though.Uh oh this is a dangerous topic for me. I have a big watch problem. I've been into Rolexes for years now. Have bought and sold many and currently have about 6 including a Sky Dweller YG, Day Date YG, Daytona RG and a Ulysses Nardin Acqua Perpetual, but use this 43mm Sea Dweller as my daily.
Oh you got the FREAK!!!!!! LOVE IT!!!You and me both, Brother. I have never got into Rolex though. Bought a Sea Dweller a few years ago (no date) and sold it after a few months to a friend. Outstanding! And it came with the very comfortable rubber strap / titanium links too. I flirted with a UN perpetual with the Sonata hands a while ago. Smoked grey dial in the WG case. UN has always offered very user friendly calendar watches.Oh you got the FREAK!!!!!! LOVE IT!!! View attachment 144307View attachment 144308
Yes I still have that rubber strap in the box. Will have to put that on one of these days.Outstanding! And it came with the very comfortable rubber strap / titanium links too. I have to carry 2 cell phones everywhere I go, one from work and the other personal, which also acts as a backup if I miss a call on my work phone. I’m on call 24/7 and get calls constantly no matter if I am on vacation or not. Once I retire from this job and start another career I plan on not carrying a cell phone anymore.I love precision technology as much as any of you guys, after all, I have Swiss blood in my veins. But when I retired I got rid of the alarm clock on my night stand and threw away my last watch, haven't donned a time piece in around two years. As somebody mentioned above there's always the smart phone when truly in need. And as another mentioned, I can't see the details on the face to use the damn thing anyway. I love retirement!
Edit - PS: I've never owned a watch worth more than around $70.![]()
I carried two phones too and was always on call. I retired at the end of 2023 and it’s soooo nice to not care anymore. My new favorite thing to say is “not my problem”I have to carry 2 cell phones everywhere I go, one from work and the other personal, which also acts as a backup if I miss a call on my work phone. I’m on call 24/7 and get calls constantly no matter if I am on vacation or not. Once I retire from this job and start another career I plan on not carrying a cell phone anymore.

So the irony with the one you show is for passionate watch fans, that watch is no Freak. Yes, Ulysse Nardin calls it that, but a real Freak can never have a crown. That is how the watch debuted in 2001, and it is an integral part of the magnificence of the timepiece. This updated "Freak" collection launched a few years ago at about half the cost of a real titanium Freak (and precious metal versions cost quite a bit more).Hey I have their other model!:

Just joking! I went to the UN website to check out the different Freak models.
Then headed over to Mayors to utilize their photo capture feature:
Ulysse Nardin Freak X 43mm Mens Watch Black 2303-270-2A-KAKI/0A | Mayors
Freak X 43mm Mens Watch Blackwww.mayors.com
Holy shit the ONE model is $71k!![]()
Gotcha. I was reading about the no dial, no hands, no crown thing. Now that's freaky. So the irony with the one you show is for passionate watch fans, that watch is no Freak. Put in more relative words for this forum, imagine if the 2025 F250 Tremor has IFS, an auto locker G80 on the rear, and 33" tires from the factory. Would anyone here really consider that a true Tremor just because it still has the fender badge? Hell no! It's the same thing with the new UN Freaks.
