I want to join the club - I have a Smartcap installed so rear visibility is impacted. I'd like to have a license plate mounted camera that will turn on with the ignition, so anytime the vehicle is on, that rear camera is on.

Well - Third time was the charm. Took me about 2 months to finally finish the install, but pretty impressed overall. At first, I was going to use the Wolfbox for a higher mounted rear-view camera and figured I'd use the stock camera for a hitch/bumper level camera. I bought the G900Pro with the dash cam and single camera input. Unfortunately, I realized that the "bed delete" program that I had completed at the dealer completely removes the functionality of the rear factory camera, even if you remount it in a new location. So try number one was a bust.

Back the drawing board, I order the G900Pro Tri-camera with what they advertise as a front bumper camera. I figured I would just use the front camera as the rear hitch/bumper camera. So I installed that last weekend. BUT, the front camera wire length ended up being about 18" too short. I e-mailed Wolfbox asking for an extension cable, and after a few back and forth e-mails, they said one didn't exist for my package, but sent me a different whole new camera with a longer cord 2 days later. Very impressed with their customer service honestly.

This weekend I pulled everything back apart and installed the new camera and cord. Still took me about 6 hours total this weekend due to having to pull all interior panels back off then take the wire loom apart to replace the one camera cable. Got everything installed and it works great now.

The last couple of times I've used the truck I've been pulling trailers, and I forgot how much of a PITA it is to line things up without a backup camera. Anyway, some pictures of the install.

Screen up on the front window. I ended up using the FitDVR 16-pin adapter to power everything. Also using the permanent mount instead of the rubber bands. Everything is working great so far.

Bumper/Hitch Camera (wood blocks are holding the wiring down while adhesive dries)

Upper Camera that will be on most of the time - Used a enclosure I found on Etsy to give it some better protection and fabbed up a mounting plate that attaches to the rear accessory frame on my camper.

All the wiring runs out of the back passenger cab corner behind the plastic corner trim piece. This is right near where power comes in for my compressor and rear fridge (the other floor penetration in the back). This routing is covered in great detail in the DirtChurch compressor install PDF (available free online).

All finished. Can't wait to actually hook up a trailer later this week! LOL The tools on the bumper are to hook up the rear low profile rear air chuck (bought from a member here). Need to grab some hardware and do a little grinding before I can finish that.

On the fence ordering the 3 camera bumper combo, I don’t need the front bumper camera(360 camera system works for this), but would value having a rear camera possibly on the rear bumper or maybe underneath the truck to see when I’m off road.

What’s the best way folks have found for running cable into the cab from below the truck?

To confirm, the hardwire OBD kit does power cameras while vehicle is off?

I just installed a Wolfbox 840S and I got the 33' cord (20' was too short) and ran it under the truck with the main harness and popped it into the cab just under the drivers floor mat (there's a rubber gasket on my '18).

I used the 3-camera system and used both remote cameras for the rear of the truck. I ran the wire out of the back of the passenger side cab floor. If you come down the passenger A-pillar the factory wiring is run right under the door thresholds and provides good protected access. The post right above yours has pics of floor penetration I used in the back cab corner.

Ended up canceling 1 of the Wolfbox orders. After more research, the 12in mirror causes a few issues with Jeep Wranglers in terms of making the visor not usable without obstruction.

So both trucks with get the Wolfbox and back to the drawing board for the Jeep

The one thing I really likes about the Wolfbox was the bumper camera options. I’m giving the Jeep to my daughter this summer when she turns 16, and there’s no parking sensors or front camera

You are not. You can use that camera for rear or front.

Did anyone else notice the mirror/screen vibrating a lot? We did the installation today, but I'm using it as a normal mirror for time being because i'm out of OBD 2 ports and they need to send me the fuse wiring kit... its annoyingly vibrating though...to where I don't want to look at the mirror...

Look at tightening the mirror mount where it attaches to the windshield.

I was uncomfortable adjusting angle of the camera to get a better view to the rear, seemed to crimp/bend the wire.
Discovered that mounting the horseshoe bracket on top of the license plate bracket, rather than the bottom, places the mounting points for the camera above the license plate bracket, now can angle the camera up without bending the wire.
Although my camera bracket may be a bit different than others, as my kit is about a year old thought this might help, those have a similar concern.

Customer service is outstanding. When I ordered last week they had 15% discount. This week it’s 20%, I emailed asking for a credit back of 5% or ship me a couple fuse tap kits and they said no problem.

Fuse taps are cheap...take the extra 5% and buy fuse taps on Amazon.

It’s the hardwire kit with fuse taps. I know I could have probably just cut off the OBD plug on the other kit
