Guys - what's the latest version of Winch installation instructions? Sitting down with my dealer tomorrow. I am also linking this thread and giving them photos. This one?

Would love for a bit bigger wattage one that goes in the OEM spot that has pure sine. The Milwaukee M18 Super charger requires more than 400 watts. Fair. I plan on hooking it up to the existing wiring (including to the OEM outlets) so I didn't want to go more than 400 watts to be safe. No idea...

I bought this PeterBuilt hinge plate on Amazon and designed a simple bracket that allowed me to mount it in front of the winch. The bracket mounts to the grill using three of the four existing holes above the winch. The bottom of the hinge plate does not make contact with the truck in either the up or down position. I used the winch for the first time last weekend and it worked great. As an added bonus, the hinge plate hides the winch from view when it is not being used, and it does a great job of keeping road grime and dead bugs off the winch.

Look closely at the picture with the plate in the up position. You will see three nuts threaded to bolts directly above the winch (where it says ‘WARN’). That is where the existing holes are located.

Those must be hold that typically retain the center trim?

Have no idea what the holes are intended for. They aren’t for the winch because the winch blocks one of the holes. There’s not much structure there, but it is more than sufficient for mounting my bracket and hinge plate.

Quick question if you can answer.
Is the driver side of the mount where the adaptive cruise module mounts on straight? On mine the driver side bracket is slightly bent out and it makes the sensor pick up the cars in the right lane next to me as I pass them. There is no left to right adjustment only the up and down. I took it off the lower inside stud and put a piece of cardboard behind it so it sits straight left and right as well as up and down and it works flawlessly. Ford told me it just needs to be recalibrated but I have a feeling when they did the winch install the bent in the bracket a little. Doesn't surprise me because they botched the winch install and it had to go back to get the bumper repainted and the front trim pieces replaced because they broke off all the mounts.

This makes me angry because it sure sounds like the dealership totally botched your winch install.

I would recommend printing out the new install directions and making sure they order the right replacement bolts that are not coming in the box with the winch

You might be pleasantly surprised. When I talked to my dealer about it, he told me they had messed a bunch of them up so they outsource to a local off road shop now. And mine was installed perfectly by the off road shop they used. Plastic trim, bolts, bumper spacing, and all.

Do you know how they were able to correct the bumper spacing issue? I assume you're referring to the gap between the headlight and the bumper on the passenger side because of the engage lever.

I don't know how they did it, but I assume that following the instructions helps a lot! Here are some photos:

Also, I got the factory front license plate relocation bracket. It's 100% plastic and simply snaps on over the bumper. It seems that you have to snap it to one side and then slide it over under the winch to get it in place, unless it's done at the time of winch install. It's not, as you know, so pretty dumb on Ford's part. Also dumb since they are required to include the bracket when State requires it, and they don't! I might pursue that. But first I am going to apply for an exemption in WA.
