Yes on both account. Factory order required 2 batteries and upgraded alternator

I can’t get a straight answer from the dealer... will the dealer install this with only one battery setup or do they absolutely require that you have the dual battery set up on the 7.3???

I should add that I already have my truck with a single battery setup so it’s not an pre-order option. I would have to have the dealer install the winch on my truck with the existing single battery.

I haven't run an analysis of the electrical system but based on what the factory is requiring for the winch, twin batteries and 397 alternator, even if the truck is running, the standard alternator and single battery will not keep up with the demand of the winch, which would overtax the system. Also as I understand it the alternator rating is not figured at idle, rather at operating speed which would be somewhere around 1500-2000 rpms. I'm thinking that trying to cheat the system and install the winch without upgrading to spec would not be very wise.

Sorry, didn't mean to throw a wet towel on things, just know that if one causes electrical system damage by going around the recommendations, they probably will loose any electrical system warranty coverage for sure.

So......where’s the “How to Video” that is supposed to accompany your license plate install? My license plate holder showed up today. All giddy inside I went out to simply “slap it on”. That’s when I realized this is gonna be a PITA! How do you get the top hooks in between the trim piece and the bumper. If anyone wants to do a video of the install and post it up I’ll be the first to watch it, I promise ?

I tried getting my finger in behind the fairlead to apply pressure to the bolt head but couldn’t make it work.

So, I stumbled upon this vise grip clamp at home depot. I used it more like a lever to apply pressure than squeezing the grip handles closed. I don’t know if that made any sense? Anyway that tool made a world of difference for me.

Want to emphasize if you have the instructions from prior to March, they are outdated. These new instructions linked here include updated bolts to ensure they don’t catch the winch line which is a problem a bunch of folks have had.

Good point @ccw. Also even if your winch is installed by the dealership, make sure and verify the fairing bolts under the winch are installed per the update. My dealer did a great job installing mine but they didn't use the updated instructions and I noticed it when I got the truck home. Easy fix but you don't want to miss this.

Did you squeeze the upper plastic hooks of the back of the license plate holder over the top of the black trim? Basically sandwich between the fairlead and the black trim piece? Or did you lift up the black trim piece and have it tucked underneath against the bumper?

When you are talking about applying pressure to the back of the fairlead bolt do you mean the nut on the back of the bolt which you are trying to prevent from falling off the bolt and down to no mans land? (Obviously I am assuming there is a nut on the back side of that bolt but that may be an incorrect assumption).

As far as the fairlead, I can only get a finger behind the passenger side bolt? The plug on the driverside prevents access to it. How did you manage to get pressure on that side?

The nut is the acorn nut on the front. The bolt head is behind the fairlead. I had to use a vice clamp tool that I found at Home Depot. I used it less as a clamp and more of a lever to get pressure on the bolt head.

It hooks on under the fairlead and onto the the metal plate.

Yep. Ordered January 25th. Took delivery March 22nd. Today is May 4th. I talked to them this morning. I got, we're sorry but, it's still on Backorder. Very disappointing. I realize it's just a part. It doesn't have anything to do with driving the truck. But .. a guy would think, 5 months would be enough ..

I ordered my truck in November and took delivery of it on March 12th and I still don't have the winch or the trailer camera/tpms. The dealer keeps saying they have no idea when the stuff will show up and there is nothing they can do.

If I am reading these last two posts correctly I am flabbergasted. I found my Tremor on a lot ordered w\o winch Dec 31st, I ordered my winch on March 26th
and received it today. Why is Ford providing winches through parts and not first
filling factory orders with more priority. Sorry, feel for you guys.

Wow. Our dealers screwed up the same way. At least we are both finally getting our winches installed this week.
