Who is grabbing the S&S LPK releasing on Aug 7th?

I just installed the SPE kit, you can use other filters besides the CAT filters. I verified with them before I bought it.

I was going off their site, as always good to know there's options!

I remember reading on another superduty site that donaldson makes a water separator that fits and has an optional clear bubble on the bottom that will allow you to see if water is in it.
edit: this was not the thread but same idea.

Please let me know if this cross linking is forbidden
Yes, thats the forum I read it on I thought it was this one. Anyway, I have them in my Amazon list to order for my next fuel filter change to include the clear bowl.

better to have fuel bowl sight glass on the secondary or primary filter?

Primary. The one that looks like this. The secondary doesn’t have provisions to mount a bowl to it.

Lots of questions answered in the comments section. Here's a couple favorites:

From what I see/read about with the actual manufacturer's web sites (focus on under hood) :
1) H&S (HSM) : They sell a couple of variants. One under-the-hood kit keeps the upper filter, another kit relocates the upper filter to under the truck.
>> Nothing special all-in-all, just a spin on filter. Relies on the OE under hood connection clips.

2) SPE Motorsports : They went all in to remove the under hood filter to relocate under the truck. Not to mention they drop the OE water separator moving to a CAT filter.
>> Still relies on the OE under hood connections. Forces owners to move to CAT filters.

3) S&S Diesel Motorsports : Does the same dance with under the hood.
>> Well.....still uses the under the hood OE connectors with a spin-on filter, owners to use Donaldson filter.

4) Fleece Diesel : Offers two different products for under the hood, and under the truck.
>> Here we go again.....uses under the hood OE connections and Donaldson filters. Under the bed kit replaces OE water separator with Donaldson filters.
5) Sinister Diesel: Sinister Diesel Fuel Filter Conversion Kit for 2011-2026 Ford Powerstroke 6.7L
>> I saw this first before I saw the S&S kit and almost ordered it. What this lacks in comparison is the replacement for the injector return fitting, but S&S does sell that separately.

Excellent install video for the S&S system:

My biggest concern with any of these solutions is how it affects Ford warranty. Being in Texas, I am worried about excessive heat cracking the plastic and resulting in a leak/fire.

I don't know about the quality of the work it provides, but the SPE fuel system here seems to meet all the needs that the Sinister, S&S, and others provide in just simpling changing the type of upper fuel filter (but not the location).

Under vehicle exposure of those filters would cause me to be hesitant to off-road the truck. I remember years ago on a guided overland trip, one of the participants had a long-bed RAM diesel and his relocated filters were damaged during a high-center descent. He ended up bridging the lines and drove unfiltered the remainder of the trip.

Agreed - for offroad/overlanding it's likely not the best setup. But as a replacement for all other uses it seems to be the overall most comprehensive option.
