Vecman's Build - Boyhood Dreams Realized!

Can you recommend a high quality automotive connector that i should use for this. I know it’s not rocket science but i have not bought standalone connectors before. Also is it better to add a separate connector for each upfitter rather than double up per connector. @BroncoHooves too.

Question is in reference to this post:)
I like doing one connector per upfitter wire, that way you don't need a dummy wire/insert to plug off an unused portion if you're only running one device and not two (required to prevent moisture ingress).

Any recommendation on a high quality connector to use?

Thank you! First time i’m seeing such a connector but i will order and install them. Not surprised you know best of the best!:)
The only thing I did differently was doing a two pin deutsch connector. Seemed less busy in there that way. But I sometimes wonder if doing 1 connector per would have been easier/better. I may even pull things back out and go this route. But yes, what @BroncoHooves linked to is the same brand I used. I bought their crimper setup as well, a bit pricey, but makes the job much easier. There may be a knock off of this as well

I'm using single pin/terminal weatherpack connectors on mine:

Coincidentally I'm doing #5 and #6 tomorrow.

Omg, at 200$ ill choke before i get it:-) i found a cheap $15 tool a while back not the best, but for my uses itll do.

Funny how at the time i was thinking why is Vecman doing this with the upfitters, and after adding a few I remembered that someone had remedied this nightmare! :-) What’s more, you should see access to upfitters on a 23, if on a 22 you could at least reach them and work with them, be it super uncomfortable, on a 23 that fuse box must come off completely just to get to them. Ford made it more painful to access.

So crazy. We obviously order the trucks with this feature - stop making it so hard to use it! Glad you found a cheaper alternative. I know I didn’t pay $200 for mine, but it was at least $100 when I got it. Oh well. Add it to the bank drain that has gone towards the truck. But man, I still get giddy, even after almost 2 years, every time i get behind the wheel. That makes it all worth it!

@BroncoHooves - I’m doing some DC electrical plug areas in the bed, and need to get behind my brake lights. I did the tail gate keeper thing, and also swapped for the security screws. Now I need to get the lights off, and I cannot find that dang key anywhere to take the screws out! Any ideas on how to get these security screws out? Damage to the screw is perfectly acceptable, as I have the stock screws going back in after I’m done.

What is the internal bit shape of your taillight security screws?

I know it’s hard to see, but that’s probably the best pic I’m gonna get

You should be able to remove that center pin with a punch. Harbor Freight has those bits in stock as well, unless you need to do the job tonight.
No. I’m not doing everything for a week or two. I’ll take a look at harbor freight. Is there a certain name to search for? Thanks!

Assuming we use the 60 amp for 5 and 6. I can’t find a crimper online that fits the 8-10 AWG spec. Any insight?
Honestly I can't remember what the factory gauge sizes are for the various upfitter wires, so that may rule that out entirely if the factory wires are the wrong gauge for a proper crimp.

Though, you can always fold the factory wire back over on itself to artificially change the gauge size (if it's too small). Just strip a little extra insulation to achieve this.

For ferrule type crimps, I'm a fan of 6 jaw crimpers. Not sure if this would work. Definitely inexpensive and worth trying though on the Deutsch terminals.
