Mr T., 9.3 mpg towing with the 7.3! I so hope to get that. Coming from a GMC 2500 with the 8.1 I'm lucky to get 6-7. What is the weight and tongue weight of your trailer? It looks pretty long and heavy. I tow a 30 foot Arctic Fox, when loaded it's pushing 10k'with a very heavy tongue weight of approximately 1300-1400 lbs. GMC is maxed, has air bags so no sagging and rides level. Trying to. determine it i need air bags or something else to eliminate any sagging.
I also came from a 8.1L but in a 2500 Burb and the 7.3L is a big improvement with my 25’ extra height cargo with AC unit on top. The cargo is very tongue heavy 1200+, with only being loaded at 7500 lbs. With the 8.1L Burb have to run bags and a equalizer. Get about 6.5 mpg at 70- with it. The same trailer loaded getting 9+ Depending on wind pulling it with the Tremor at 70. The Tremor is around level not sagging bad with the trailer and don’t have bags or a equalizer for it. The Tremor without load aids handles better than the Burb running bags and a equalizer.Not planning on adding bags since it does so well but may get a adapter to try the equalizer. I am in the west so have a Mtn pass or large hil pretty much any way I go.

Good to hear the 7.3 is an improvement over the 8.1! 8.1 with the Allison treated us well for 9 years, it was time to upgrade. Excited to get her out in a couple weeks if the weather allows.. Last week was the GMCs last hurrah. Pick up the Tremor 3 days before our last camping trip. As much as we wanted to take her.... felt we better put a few miles on her before working her hard. Awesome to hear that air bags probably won't be necessary. Understand the mountain and hills as we are a little west of you in Idaho.
Tounge weight is around 1050 and running loaded weight for the trailer is around 10k. I don’t travel with full tanks. The trailer is all aluminum frame so pretty light and relatively aerodynamic (for a 38’ brick). I use a weight distribution hitch. Once I got the tounge weight, tire pressures 70 psi rear, and WDH sorted it tows very well.
I chuckle when I see comments like “ you don’t even know the trailer is back there”. the Tremor pulls exceptionally well - but you definitely know the trailer is still back there.
Yeah, if you don't know 10K is back there then truck ain't running right when not towing. Lol
Nic have family in WA so head though that way quite a bit, and in a normal year head south in to the dunes as well. The 8.1L is still serving us well since wife took it over as a in town rig.

Our weather is starting to turn to shit. getting cold and soggy. I hate camping in the mud with the dog. At least I can still go with the Tremor ( won't get stuck) but sucks having a wet muddy dog that just wants to play in the mud then come in and sit on the couch/ bed.
I'm specifically buying a F350 7.3 for the payload needed to eventually fit a nice slide-in camper. They're small, and expensive for their size, but you can go places almost no one else can go. Great if you're idea of camping is being 30 miles off the nearest paved road down a two track, with most of the comfort and security of home.
Don't have the slide-in yet, as it would crush my 1/2 ton. The whole horse before the cart thing. And spending $100K on both a truck and camper in one year is kinda painful.
The truck should make a much more stable platform for my 750-1000 mile drives towing a snowmobile trailer too. Have this theory that a heavier 3/4 ton or 1 ton will have better snow/ice manners due to the extra weight. We'll see I guess.

Yesterday was brutal, driving from NE Nebraska to south of Denver hauling the Truck Camper in really high winds with gust over 50 mph. The sections where we were dealing with cross winds, had to drop the speed below 55. Still getting great mileage out of the 7.3L, total trip up through the Black Hills and Badlands averaged 10.8 mpg, was at 11.2 mpg prior to the winds. Overall I am at 11.9 mpg lifetime with 11715 miles driven. At least 75% of miles hauling 12200 GVW in the Mountain West.
