There are others that are marketed as off road, or there are camper trailers, but these three have a reputation of being able to endure more punishment for longer than anything else. The others shake themselves loose on the corrugations and/or rot in the tropics.

I remember one of the times I came to Australia for work, I started taking pictures of the off-road style campers I came across (and still have a couple of those pics on my phone). I have not seen anything similar available in the States, with rare exception.

They were very capable looking. Different market wants & needs, I guess.

Oh no, really. Why on earth do they ban something so integral to camping? Do they expect you to freeze out in the open? I swear there must be people in governments around the globe who are tasked with the job of coming up with ways to make as many people as possible miserable.

Fires. But you can run your gas grill however you want. They are crazy and stupid. A lot easier for a stand up grill to be knocked over...

I think there would be a lot more isolated places here, on roads and tracks that can be very hard on equipment. So yes, different needs. Also, trailers over 4.5t require air brakes.

Geez, it’s not as though we don’t get bushfires here. Of course, we do have total fire bans here when conditions are bad, but that’s during summer. National parks don‘t allow pit fires but most allow fires above ground. I avoid national parks and prefer state forests where they pretty much leave you alone.

CA: Lets water run off back to the ocean, then tell us we have no water. All while dousing the air with aluminum and barium nano dust to keep it from raining, and when it settles on the ground it becomes incendiary creating super fires that become bigger and move faster than ever. At the same time not allowing Forrest management that clears dry and dead brush and trees that would create natural fire lines.

Now many may not believe all this, however one just has too look at the results. From 1900-2015 we had fires maybe once every 20 year at a tenth of the size of current. Now the last 5 years, fires every single year tearing up 100k+ acres at a time.

And the state blames campers and pge. That’s a laugh...

I hate camping in CA. Need to go in the spring before fire season if you want to have a campfire. Fire season seems to get longer each year. I can't camp without a fire, there's literally no point in going camping for me since 90% of camping to me is sitting around a fires drinking whiskey.

Though last November we went tent camping in Sequoia NP and fires were allowed. Conditions can change daily though. We had roaring bonfires both nights were were there.

fire restrictions in CA are only in place during fire season and on high risk days...which is most days from late summer to like November. When conditions are like they are right now, it makes a lot of sense to ban fires even if it ruins people's camping trips. CA has like a million acres on fire right now and Oregon is getting mangled too.

That’s what they do here. Driest inhabited continent in the world and they release what little water there is to the sea. Then wonder why all the fish in the river die. Farmers and grazier’s, who pay for the water, go without EVEN though they have paid for it. Insane.

Here's my little bumper pull. It's only about 6k unloaded, so I thought I would be good pulling it with my 150. It pulls her just fine, climbs hills like a beast, but by the time we get gear in trailer, bed of truck, and passengers, I'm a bit overloaded. Have one more long trip over to the coast next month with the 150. Can't wait until next season with the new truck.
