There wasn't a truck bed in the way when they were likely installed.Get yourself a 8mm ratchet wrench for the filler neck Ford likes to install all the clamps straight up!
Does not void warranty only if tank or install of tank causes a warranty issue, I also know Ford is aware and watching and I'm sure checking for Fore scan mod's alsoDoes changing out the fuel tank void the factory warranty?

That is correct, just like the exhaust bolts and transmission hardware we fight daily. The Ford Engineers wouldn't do 90% of the crap they do if they actually had to work on them in the field. There wasn't a truck bed in the way when they were likely installed.![]()
Well I got my tank installed Saturday. Pretty good instructions from Transfer Flow, I have to give them prompts on the warning with the fuel tank strap bolts. DO NOT USE A ANY KIND OF POWER TOOLS ON THE FUEL TANK STRAP BOLTS!! We learned that very early on with the Superduty!! The J-nuts will break every time and then you have your hands full!! The only thing I would add for the install would be install the Add-on canister on the bracket before final installation of it, takes 2 people to start the rear bolts and nuts. Outside of that pretty straightforward! I wouldn’t be looking forward to the install on the ground forsure! Get yourself a 8mm ratchet wrench for the filler neck Ford likes to install all the clamps straight up! Also the added canister that is piggy backed was kinda interesting to me, but don’t see why it wouldn’t work. Pretty cool the way they piggy backed into the system. Over all pleased got the programming done today. Headed on a trip on. Wednesday so I’ll see how much of a difference it makes on a long trip. Anyone that decides to do it themselves hit me up with any questions!
Toke me maybe 3 hours but I was on a lift and have had several tanks out of these trucks, I ran over the instructions the night before so I was familiar with all the piping beforehand. Pretty easy install and very straight forward, MTE appears to be accurateAbout how long did it take you to install?
Once you changed forscan did the miles to empty become accurate or does that have a learning curve?
No way of knowing until the 23's actually ship and Transfer Flow gets their hands on one. I doubt there were major changes that would prevent it, but minor changes that get in the way are quite possible.Maybe this was covered already, but have there been any initial thoughts on whether the current tank will fit 23’s? I’m betting yes since the 23’s are really a styling and content makeover rather than a full chassis overhaul.
Exactly. Terry wouldn't let me order a tank for my 23 that's on order until they were able to confirm fitment. No way of knowing until the 23's actually ship and Transfer Flow gets their hands on one. I was a little worried I'd need to remove to bed to do this install for these kinds of reasons. Glad to know I don't!There wasn't a truck bed in the way when they were likely installed.![]()
I found these instructions on a website, forscan.org, for adjusting the fuel tank size. Do these seem like good instructions or are there other things I should be aware of?I’m about to have my TF tank installed. I have a question about what to expect from my fuel gage and fuel computer after the install. I will not be making any changes in forscan (at least for now) because I don’t have the equipment or knowledge.
My understanding is that after install my fuel gauge will read correctly but the miles to empty will not. Is this correct?
Also, would anyone be willing to describe the equipment and detailed steps to reprogram for the new tank size with forscan? Or direct me to a source for directions on how to use it sufficient for someone starting at basically zero knowledge?
I have read about forscan a little but have never really considered using it because I fear I might do more harm than good because I don’t know what I’m doing. I guess what I’m really asking is, how difficult is it for a person with average computer and technical skills to get up to speed on using forescan. It would be worth a fair amount of effort to be able to adjust the tank size and a few other things like the truck lighting up like a small city when I get out in the dark, and honking when I get out with the key and the engine running. I’m afraid my big game hunting buddies are going to abandon me if I don’t modify these factory settings. Thank you.
I know enough about forscan to be dangerous. Lol it's not to difficult at all. Most of the things you want to change are some of the simplest. There's a bunch of YouTube videos out there that explain the process very well. Just remember to save a back up of the original and only make one change at a time.I’m about to have my TF tank installed. First off, it’s not hard. Just google Forscan and watch a few of the YouTube videos, google for the google spreadsheet that has your year of vehicle, and then make the changes from the spreadsheet that have been vetted to work. Buy one of the approved OBDII devices (look on Forscan’s website) and apply for their 2 month license (free). As long as you don’t just go in and make random changes, you should be good. Yep…those are the right ones…and you are correct on the gauge still working and only the miles to empty being wrong until you make the changes,I found these instructions on a website, forscan.org, for adjusting the fuel tank size. Great advice to make a backup and only change one thing at a time. Thank you.I know enough about forscan to be dangerous. Lol it's not to difficult at all. Thank you! The link you provided to instructions is the same one I had found. Looks simple enough….First off, it’s not hard.
