Thought Some of Ya'll Might Be Interested In This Dash Camera Option

Worked great! Wish the guy supplied the STEP file and not just the STL. Can't really modify an STL afaik
Unless you go through a grueling process with mesh/surfaces to make it solid..

Don't have my truck yet...but this fuse panel is located under the glove box and easily accessible...correct? How can you flip it down again to make it more accessible? Thx

Assuming it’s in the same place as the MY23/24, it’s fairly straightforward to access. Tab to remove the side panel, 3 push pins holding the matted piece up, a cable to unplug for the footwell light and then that’s out of the way. Fuse box is mounted right up there in the right. Can pop the cap off right then and there and access if your a contortionist. Otherwise, there’s 3 tabs (2 front, 1 left) you can push and it’ll release the fuse box letting you drop it down and tilt it forwards to see.

Awesome...my Uniden R8 and my dash cam thank you :)

Got proof of the bobcat that’s been hanging out today.

And after a week and a bit of driving in the dark, the blue LED is getting annoying. Might have to Sharpie over it. 😂

@Avslash - what type of connection is made from the front camera to the rear? I have a thinkware installed, front and rear, and I'm happy with it. But I seem to have to replace my windshield every year and it would be nice to just have a camera setup in the rain sensor area like this, and not have to keep putting a new sticker and such to attach the front camera with every new windshield. I'd love to be able to just connect to my rear thinkware camera if the cables were the same connections (assuming that would even work)

For this Sapium, it’s a minicoxial(?) a single thinner round cable at least... If I remember correctly, the Viofo also use a single cable as well, so from the front unit, you run the cable across the roofline to the a-pillar, pull the door seal down and tuck it up there, across the top of the b-pillar above the seatbelt, drop the door seal on the rear door, behind the plastic and up to the roof. Across the rear window in the headliner until you want it to be mounted on the window.

Just make sure you put it on the driver side of the sliding glass window if you have it. (Assuming the sliders all go the same way.)

Just understand that not all mini coaxial cables will work with all dash cams. They are not all compatible with each other based on the type of cameras you purchase.

Sorry, missed that post yesterday.

Post above is correct. It some type of mini coax with push connectors to connect to camera pigtail.

Just ordered this camera. For those of you that have this installed, I notice it comes with a power source using the rain sensor. So is there a reason to run the OBDII cable, lob it off, and tie it into a fuse tap rather than using the rain sensor? I'm assuming it has something to do with parking mode not working with the rain sensor method? Thanks in advance.

If you want parking mode, which is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, you cannot do that with a mirror/rain sensor tap. You MUST go to the fuse box which is super easy. Yes, you can cut off the OBD and take the wires straight to the fuse box. I HIGHLY recommend the VIOFO cameras as they are top rated and very reasonably priced.

Great. Thanks for the info. I have the Viofo on my son's car and it doesn't seem any better than any other cheap Chinese brand camera. Seems like most of the lower end dash cams are pretty similar from a video quality perspective. I'm not sure you'd notice any distinguishable difference in video quality from this camera versus a Viofo. I like this setup as it looks "factory" and not stuck to the windshield. I'm sure the big difference in the pricing on these lower end cameras is the app's performance and how much development they put into it. As for the Viofo app, it's nothing fancy. Ill take my chances here and hope for the best. Thanks for the info.

If you compare the Fitcam to an A119 basic camera I would agree. The Fitcam is not a 4K camera even though they falsely advertise that...you can get conformation on the web regarding this. They are also one of the only manufacturers that does NOT use the Sony STARVIS chip sets which are widely recognized as the best camera chips in the world. The A229 Pro and the A329S are far superior and most certainly worth the money. I bought the Fitcam for my Chevy to test it out since I professionally install these. The app was very basic and video quality was OK. Really depends on your needs and budget. If I recall correctly, the Fitcam is limited to a 128GB max SD card where all other "nice" dash cams will handle 512GM SD cards. Hey...if you're happy, I'm happy. Got no skin in this game my friend. Just trying to educate folks on what's "good" versus what's "great" ;) If your camera can't capture a license plate clearly at night, which the Fitcam will struggle with, then is it really worth the OEM look? Only those that buy it can answer that question.

Thanks for the information, I do appreciate and value your opinion. I wish someone could make a camera with as good video quality as most modern smartphones are able to produce with a nice app to go with it. It seems doable but for whatever reason no company that I'm aware of makes a camera with video quality to rival a modern Iphone or Galaxy.

My guess is cost, how many folks would be in the market to pay a premium for it

After consideration I ended up going with the FitcamX.
A few driving factors:
  1. Amazon briefly went out of stock of the Sapium front + rear combo. A day later they were back but delivery was out a month+ (and I didnt want to wait..). Still showing April 10-30 on Amazon.
  2. Amazon is the only place you can find the Sapium one. They dont have a website and no other search references this brand.
  3. Fear of the pulsing blue light. haha
  4. I prefer the centered view of the FitcamX over the offset view of the Sapium. Which would probably also interfere with my EZ-Pass. In it's current location the rearview mirror blocks it from my view.
There are a few compromises
  1. the Sapium can hold a larger SD car up to 1TB while Fitcamx can only do 256Gb. Which kind of sucks.
  2. Fitcamx accessories you have to buy separately.

I did follow the Sapium install video for routing the cables. However, I did take the passenger side A-Pillar off for hardwiring. I bought their harness so I could utilize park mode (needs a constant 12v). If you cut the OBD2 connector from the Sapium you could use this method (like discussed earlier).

Using the 2023 F350 Fuse Box Diagram and my multi meter, I ended up using Fuse Taps in the the interior fuse box under the glove box.

THE FUSE BOX IS UPSIDE DOWN IN THE TRUCK COMPARED TO THE DIAGRAM. This makes it extra confusing.

ACC : Fuse 36 (Manual Shift)
PWR + : Fuse 25 (Spare)

I would have used Fuse 13 (spare) for ACC but the wire leaving the tap for the constant PWR+ was in the way. And you want the Load side (connects to the accessory) of the circuit on the wire side. The other side of the fuse is the 12v Power side. If you plug these in wrong your acc load is added to the original fuse and not the new one. (Image below from clavicus on Maverick Forums)

From the truck view of things. The constant 12v pwr and the acc pwr are on opposing sides. I verified this with the multimeter before inserting any fuses. You should also do the same!! Plug in the tap w/o fuses and verify which side gets power.

Also note there are 3 push tabs on the side of the fuse box that let you rotate down the box to work with it easier. One on the left and 2 on the rear side (seat side) (top of this image as it rotates down toward you).

Used this post here for the ground

There are convenient clips already part of the OEM clips that you can route the wire down.

Use the multi bend pick to pop the handle cover off so you dont scratch the trim piece. I used the 90* first and scratched it. But the material is weird and you can smooth is back out with the round part (side). That tiny hole is OEM.

How I routed the cables. Black is power and the Gray is the rear cam.

All 3 wires fit in the OEM hole on the black plastic cover

Rear cam on the drivers side as the power window would cover the passenger side.

Thank you so much for this information. You are a lifesaver!

I've been waiting for the Sapium to come back in stock on Amazon. It has been unavailable for while now.
