Road trips with guns / rifles

I travel with guns often. I bring them all in everywhere. The key is you dont ask and dont look guilty. Just do it.
Exactly, and I will add, most hotels have entrances on the ends of the halls/etc. where you dont have to walk by the front desk. Anytime Im on the road with anything that'd be too big to throw into another bag; I pull up to the front, check in, drop my handbags in the room and then park the truck closest to the nearest exit and carry the long guns in the same way I would any other suitcase. If it's really crowded, sometimes I will wait a little bit just because I dont want any fellow guests taking interest in what I have in the room.

Not worth the risk to leave them in the car, even in a "best case" scenario where you can park where you can clearly see the truck, with a room on the ground floor near an exit, thieves will be in and out faster than you can get out there to try and stop them, even if you hear them breaking in (short of blasting away through the window of the room of course).

My office is adjacent to a motel. There are constant robberies of vehicles there. Not uncommon to see the police in the parking lot when I come to work. No way would I leave guns in a vehicle. Shouldn't have left them in my boat when it sank either...

🤣. Mom & I flew into Dallas last month to visit family in Louisiana. My mom told me the hotel there had a no firearms policy. I told her Dallas must not be in Texas!

Considering that it has become the fastest growing metro in the country with a massive west coast influx I am not surprised to hear such things.

Even as a Canadian I've never had issues bringing guns into a hotel. I've rolled up with 3 of these cases and never had an issue.

I carry a firearm everywhere, as I can through my employment and federal statute. I conceal it and make a point not to bring attention to myself. As far as long guns, never leave them in your vehicle. Just bring that pelican case in like it’s any piece of luggage and don’t bring attention to it. Hotel parking lots are hot beds of thefts, often someone working at the hotel will be involved, either directly or indirectly. Maby they are being paid by a thief to look out and let them know when it’s a good time. Also, most travelers carry allot of valuables in their vehicle.

Why would you have to "sneak" them in? They are legal to have in possession.
I’m not leaving my guns anywhere un attended in my truck on any trip!

Many hotels are gun free....
Happens all the time in Texas.
Texas SB20, which was signed in 2021, expressly forbids hotels from adopting any policies that prohibit guests from storing firearms and or ammunition in their room, transporting directly to and from their vehicle and room, or storing it in their vehicle on hotel property unless it is already prohibited by state or federal law. They can require you to have it concealed or in a case.

Buy a camper for your truck!

I can barely get my truck to the places I like to go, no way in hell you could get a camper there...

Never understood the need to drag a camper hours and set it up closer to other people than my neighbors at my house.

For me, it's kids. Otherwise I would just take a 2 person tent and hike through the mountains 😉

A time and a place......

Unfortunately not a problem I have to deal with so I can not give advice. I was on an ocean hunt with my gear and the boat ended up sinking...if you leave stuff in your vehicle you are asking to have them stolen.
