Ride quality...get your thoughts?

My 2 cents, IFS to solid axle of any type is a change of feel. I came from a plushy 2003 Chevy 2500 back to a solid axle Tremor. 37in tires' 47 Ft TP and 43 Rear TP and RC V2 shocks.....I think it rides wonderfully.....for a solid axle 3/4 Ton 7700lb truck.

I have to agree. Solid front axle to IFS is comparing apples to oranges.
I have had several SuperDuties over the last 20+ years and my current 2022 F-350 6.7 rides great compared to my past SD’s.
Plus, I can get between 20,5 to 22.5 MPG unloaded at freeway speeds. 😀👍

Then tow whatever the hell I want !!!

If people were honest with themselves, half the people on here would be happier in a half ton.
Why do you say that? Ride quality what you are referring to? The price these days of a trx or a raptor…I feel like you don’t get as much for your money. Back when they were $55-70k…I could justify the lack of towing. But, when paying over $100k, it’s just hard to justify. I feel like you are getting much more truck for your money with a 250. Anyone compare the ride quality of the 250 gas vs the 250 diesel? I saw a review where the guy swears that the diesel has a better ride.

Before I ordered my F350 Tremor, I needed to make a decision for the engine.
I test drove a 2023 F350 Gas and new F350 Diesel

the gas motored truck was all over the road with every bump, and the diesel felt planted.
The extra weight kept the front end connected to the road.

After both test drives, wife said the decision was easy, and we ordered the Tremor with a diesel

You made the "right" choice haha.

I don't think the cost has anything to do with it. The trx and raptor are completely different vehicles than a superduty. I'm talking about the people who buy a heavy duty truck, with no plans of towing heavy. They are buying for "look" of the truck. Then they complain because a truck built to haul heavy loads doesn't ride as good as a half ton. Then they proceed to swap suspension parts that kills the payload rating. But at least they have a diesel.

I would say that the diesel has a different ride due to the extra weight and different front springs. On road the extra weight seems to smooth things out a little in my opinion. With that being said on the trails and off road that extra weight in the front end seems harsher on bigger bumps and larger rocks in my opinion.

As for the other half I probably would still be in a Raptor if hadn’t got my enclosed trailer regardless of the costs. After making the jump fell into the trap of being able to tow bigger things syndrome. Now even the highest rated 1/2 won’t cut it anymore for many of my loads.

Why not get a SD Tremor with 37s and A Carli Pintop or E-Venture systems? Won't that completely change the ride of the truck?
No, it won't, I have a 22' with 38s full e-venture system, and it is still super bumpy. I just drove my boy's Tremor with the Icon system, and that thing is smooth like a lifted Cadillac. Thinking of selling E-Venture and switching to Icon.

Icon is trash! I hope your boy likes rebuilding shocks!

On that one I drove several when looking back in 2020 and the first Tremor F350 I was able to drive was a diesel wandered bad. Drove 2 gasers one in F250 and one in F350 one wandered with every bump the other didn’t. Thinking wandering has a lot more to do with the finicky nature of the Duratrac’s / alignment.

Luckily my ordered F350 Gas Tremor doesn’t wander like some of the trucks I test drove, reading posts seems more more like luck of the draw regardless of gas or diesel. There’s definitely a different heavier feel upfront on the diesels vs gassers I get to drive. Wouldn’t say unloaded one wanders more than the other on the road as long as you are lucky enough not to have the initial wandering issue.

Interesting you say this.

I've never driven in a Carli lifted rig before but I love the way my Icon lifted truck rides. It is super smooth and I love it. I have the Stage 1 system on 35s.

I just recently added Carli's aftermarket torsion bar and it sure reduced body roll to a bare minimum and regains stability after bumps within a blink of a eye.

Yes, their shocks are trash but I have always ran FOX shocks with excellent results. Shocks are like tires, you swap them out once they're done so not a big deal to me.

I guess its personal preference and what you're after.

Carli doesn’t think icon is trash otherwise they would not have partnered with them. And no, their icon level shocks are not entry level only. It’s their mid tier (commuter and backcountry) systems.

And again NO, eVenture shocks are not made by Icon, but by SDI.

Wow, you guys just hammer fallacies left and right….

Obviously the king shocks are king shocks. They don't have anything with Fox shocks anymore. The E-Venture shocks are rebranded icons.

Not interested in those so I have no clue who makes them. I stand by comment after many years with Icon suspension on two different Super Duty's and two different Toyota's. It's junk and I always advise against it, to each his own.

I never said their entry level stuff was Icon. Icon is crap, you do you.
